Marina's and Itals on the DVLA
Does anybody have up to date info on how many Marina's and Itals are currently taxed or sorned.
It would be nice to know
Mark1's,Mark2's,Mark3's and Itals
I met Brian ford yesterday at newark autojumble who has two Nice itals and got chatting how Guide prices in the classic car mags had started to shoot up.
We got on the subject of how many left and i thought they was over 200 Itals still taxed or sorned but to my horror Brian said that they was just 39 Itals currently taxed or sorned.
I know they will be a few marinas/itals sat in garages/barns/drives/fields that haven't been on the road since sorn came into force so won't be on the database but on a whole if this figure is correct for the ital's this is a worrying figure.
Best regards
Barry

Checkout the new Understeer available shortly. I have been working with DVLA to identify the cars Taxed or on SORN by model.
I will publish here once the next magazine is out.
There are some surprises.

Marina's and Itals on the DVLA
It looks like the editor held back the numbers for the next edition, just prior to the National. I wasn't expecting that, I did the research for the club, so I'll hold off until the club publish first.
However there are some Ital figures from Martin Green, there are 29 Itals taxed and on the road.

All Morris's including Marinas, Itals, vans and pickups, if the Suntors are registered as Suntors then no, if they are registered as Morris's then yes, although they don't show separately.

Have to check the logbook when I get back. I'm sure it was registered as a Morris 10CWt. But registered at the Suntor Factory looking at the run of number plates (There's a Suntor Commer Van in existance with the same registration but 2 numbers after mine).

Re: Marina's and Itals on the DVLA
 Just seen the list Chris, must say i was a bit shocked too! only 31 TC`s, that would include saloons, coupes, mumfords and jubilees  , from the cars i`ve seen at shows etc that would equate to about a dozen left of each model of TC , some other variants there are only 1 or 2 left at all, time to print the list on here now Chris before they are all gone!

Re: Marina's and Itals on the DVLA
I am sure some are not on that list but is shocking.
I had about 12 - 13 Jubilee's so I guess some of them are not on this list as that would mean nearly half are Jubilee's  :?

Re: Marina's and Itals on the DVLA
Yes I agree Frank, here's the whole article.
How Many Cars Are Left? This is the perennial question that comes up when two or more Marina-ists or Ital-ists get together. The last reliable figures that I have seen were the ones published a couple of years ago in one of the weekly motoring newspapers. As it is our 40th anniversary, I thought that I would contact the DVLA and ask them.
The figures below are those from the last quarter of 2010, I asked DVLA to list all Marinas, Itals and Commercials that they know of. Now you would expect that that is all the cars there are, but in fact it only relates to cars currently taxed or those registered on SORN. If you have a car stashed away that has been off the road since before 1998 and never registered on SORN, then it is not on the DVLA electronic record and isn’t counted here. Also, due to poor record creation when DVLA went digital instead of the old green log books, it doesn’t include cars that are registered as Morris but no model type. Likewise, they can’t specify body styles i.e. saloon, coupe, estate - so other than for Mk2 GTs and HLs, we can’t tell what sort of bodies they might be.
So what are the numbers? Below you will find three tables, one for Marinas, one for Itals and one for Commercials. For me there are a couple of surprises, firstly how few overall, secondly the number of surviving commercials.

So all in all, 562 of all models - quite a sobering thought. So when you are next talking to someone who knows of a Marina or Ital in a shed, think about how it could be saved from the scrap heap or the banger-boys.
