My first Marina. Used as a hack by the local garage - much abused by my brother who worked there at the time then welded up by him and sprayed by my dad in our lock up.
This was my first car-passed my test a month after my 17th birthday and was one of very few who could drive at college!

Notice in this photo I'd lowered the rear!!

Two rear axles, one gearbox and an inlet manifold later plus many litres of oil she was scrapped a couple of years later
Photos about 18 years ago!

Back then they where still ten a penny. Replaced it with a crash damaged Rover 216 Vittese that I straightened out. That was a bloody fantastic car!

I also had a Rover 216 Vitesse, (Black, 1987, D227 HEU), bought in 1990 at 3 years old, we kept it for 8 years! What a car!! It was VERY quick. I once beat a Ford Orion away from the lights, with a caravan in tow

Only thing against it was the dreaded rust. A very rare car these days 8) Definately a future classic!
Performance figures close to Escort XR3i, a big step up from my Marina 1.3 Coupe which it replaced 8)

The 216 was very quick! It could also smoke it's tyres for hundreds of yards and rev to 7500 ( though red line was at 6000 ) which was about 70-75mph in second gear!
It also 'survived' hump back bridge jumping very well and the handbrake was good and strong-an excellent handbrake turner! Yep I loved my Vittesse.
Great car to have when your 18/19!!!

I was 10 years older than you when I bought mine, so I treated it more carefully, that's why we owned it for 8 years

I havn't...
My first Marina was such a mess, I scrapped it.
Mind you.
I then acquired another 14...
Still have 9.
I think that people of any religious persuasion would still admire my everyday driver...
