1.8 starter motor

Hi guys.
I'm new to the world of Marina ownership.
Just bought a 1972 Marina 1.8 DL
Been sat for years in a garage (14), and the starter motor does not turn the engine.
Had the car running after a bump start, so I know the engine is fine.
Bridged the starter solonoid, again seems fine.
All things seem to suggest the starter motor is not functioning correctly.
Is the 1.8 Marina starter the same as an MGB?
Noticed that for sale on flea bay, are both pre-engaged starters for MGB's and none-pre-engaged ...Will one of these fit my car?
If so, which one?

Starter should be an pre engaged (with a big solenoid on top of the motor) it might be that the solenoid is not pushing the gear out, and if so, the starter motor will not spin as this action makes some internal electrical contacts.
You might be able to spin the motor by bridging terminals.

The starter should be a Lucas 2M100

Sorted it.
Just removed starter, oiled well, and hey presto!...Good as new!
Not the pre-engaged type though.
After standing in a garage 14 years, the car runs incredibly well, and starts first turn of the key!
Only done 34k, and the engine sounds really sweet.
Clutch plate seems to be stuck, so thats a job for next time.
Also brakes need bleeding.
The car is very solid, all electrics seem to work well, so hopefully an MOT later this week

Stuck Clutch is common on a car stood for a while. They usually free up with a bit of persuasion.

Make sure you check the brakes for leaks as it has been standing so long just bleeding them could be a waste of time if the seals blow or leak
