Can you see the Sump from that angle? The engine sump is a manageable height and the gearbox currently has a land rover sump cos I've not changed it to the BMW one yet. Cars up on the stands ready for me to get the engine out.MarinaCoupe wrote:Ben
I see that the sump is very low, is that why the front wheels are off the ground, or is it that you caught it in mid driverless wheelie?

Changed the windscreen washer motor on the HL. Managed to get a new Lucas one off e-bay. Adjusted the wipers to park slightly higher, as they were both hitting the bottom edge of the rubber quite hard. Also treated the chrome TC tailpipe to a splash of T-Cut to brighten its day! Shiny Shiny!!!!

Yes mate! Have been using it everyday since the mag shoot really. Got new insurance now, which allows me to drive it to work again.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Well I got my ute back from having the rust sorted - unfotunately the guy doing the repair didn't realise the jacking-points were just that and looking from beside the sill the jacking point is too high, i.e. half the square hole is hidden by the sill seam.
So now I cannot fit the jack into them - but I'll weld on a section of 1" X 1" about 6" long (or whatever size it needs) underneath the new 'jacking points'.
I have had a squeak from my front right suspension and can't track it down, it's worse going around left-hand bends/corners and so a certain extent in the straight-ahead position when driving along.
Doesn't happen on right hand bends/corners.
And only noticeable at around town speeds.
Any ideas????

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Usually I find that a regular squeak from the front suspension means that the pin in the trunnion has run out of grease.
Because the one grease nipple has to do both the pin and the vertical thread - whichever offers the least resistance gets all the grease and the other misses out.
The only way to rectify this is to totally strip the bottom of the upright - fill the trunnion with grease - then screw it all back together.
This forces the grease absolutely everywhere.
Up your arms, down your shirt, in your slippers - you name it - it goes there.
Stops the squeak though...

OK, got the trunion thing sorted - the mice are all dead (no more squeaks!).
But when drivinf today the wipers stopped.
So did the indicatoer - and brake-lights.
Evrything else is OK, ignition & oil light work, motor starts/runs and lights work.
I checked all the fuses I could find and they seemed OK - so where else do I look??

SEEMED OK wasn't enough, continuity check on one of the fuses showed no current passing through it - the fuse 'wire' must be loose in behind one of the end caps out of sight.Kiwi Ute wrote:OK, got the trunion thing sorted - the mice are all dead (no more squeaks!).

It was a 30amp one, all I had was 20amp but wipers, fan, indicators all work OK

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I took my Coupe out for a run this morning, first time since last October and fell in love with the car all over again. I do love the tuned B series engine, it was making a great sound through the stainless exhaust, and the free flow air filter. It'll probably be the last time I'll drive her with the B series - boo hoo.
As soon as the Pickup is on the road, I'll kick on with the T16.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I started mine in the normal manner, i.e. from sat inside the vehicle and using a key, and with the vehicle stationary. This is Progress.
