Hi folks,
Just been doing some more census entries and came across this car. Imagine my surprise when I put it in on the DVLA database and it was first registered on 29th April 1971

Makes it registered earlier than TDL 229J and EEA 462J

Must have been made pre-launch.
Does anybody know where it is now? Been unlicensed since 2010. Would love to find it....

No that picture is from Gaydon. Probably '97? I've got a pic of it at the '04 national somewhere. It's a one owner family car from new! Remember, chassis numbers dictate build date, not when it was registered.

Chassis number is 1498

TDL is 2465 and EEA is 5055
If a link was changed to "ebay linky" then that was probably Sam, because she's sad..

Oops sorry, saw the 7 at the end of '07' and that rung a bell
1498

Is that the lowest number known??
Let's hope he has just stashed it away in a garage and forgot to SORN it....

I read somewhere that all BL cars started production with chassis number 1001, not sure whether that is true or not.
Gary Simms knows of a coupe which is supposed to be very early, apparently Frank knows the chassis number and it is earlier than TDL, but no idea if it is earlier than this car.
Wonder what the newest Marina left is?

Most Austin Morris cars started 101 but not sure if they changed that to 1001 by the time the Marina came out.

Ah maybe that is what I read, it was a while ago! So a chassis number of 500 or so could be possible! Hope you can find out more about it David

Marinas must have started 101. Just searched on WOH492J registered 15/12/70 and chassis of 201!
WOH491J also registered same date with chassis 200
