Borg and Beck clutch?

Post by ronecc » Mon Dec 30, 2013 6:16 pm

Has anybody had cause to use one of the Borg and Beck clutch kits recently. I heard that there were some copies from China appearing, that were not lasting very long. Borg and Beck are still making a clutch kit for the Marina, and I just wondered whether there was any way of telling the two apart. That is, IF the Chinese were bothering to make Marina copies, or just the more popular ones.

To be honest I would look on ebay and find an old stock one if you can, the cheap stuff coming out of China lately is of pretty poor quality so an old stock one is always a better option in my opinion, they are usually available from about £40 ;)

Have seen them, but wondered whether the disc lining could have absorbed moisture to adverse effect. I have a disc already, but do not know how old it is. It is sat on my heated floor at the moment, seeing if it will dry any.

Borg and Beck clutch?

Had you thought about getting your existing drive plate relined locally? New friction material should sort it out.

Whereabouts are you based?

Hi Chris. I live near Skipton in North Yorkshire. I have no idea where to get it relined, bad enough trying to find somewhere to get my cylinder head unleaded (finally got it done)

Thanks, I will have a browse through them in the new year. Probably not much use this side of 2014. Did you get my question about the Metro engine mounts and the positioning of the small pegs??
