Yes it's the same law that comes into effect when after your work's Christmas do you wander back to the car (after staying off the drink all evening) at 3AM only to find the battery flat, the alternator kaput and the fan belt stretched  Eventually got home at 5:30 (this was last Saturday) after my girlfriend came and picked me up as no recovery was available (24/7 apparently :rolls: ) so I could have had something to drink after all

What did I do on Christmas day here in NZ?
Adjusted the drivers door on the ute - a bitch of a job what with the badly worn hinge-pins!

Guess what the next big job will be! :-D

Took Lizzie out for spin. Had a lot of attention being paid to her. ;)Image

Ripped the engine/transmission out of the white car.

Engine had a very noisy big end bearing that was scheduled for destruction.
Am replacing it with a 2 litre in manual configuration this time.

Got a few seized brakes to contend with and some lowering to do - should be an interesting project.

Will keep ya posted.. ;)

Took the van for a quick trip from Durham to Sheffield and back today, had all kinds of weather from heavy snow to lovely sun. 70mph most of the way apart from when there was too much spray and still had half a tank of fuel when I got back. The only problem was getting the sd1 bonett I picked up back out of the van when I got home. :-?

I got a fresh MOT for PTH today  as soon as I got home I taxed her and transferred my insurance over and now she's road legal and drivable since being off the road since 2001! I'm chuffed :-D
Now that I've driven PTH she's kind of shown how worn out REP is!
The steering on PTH is so light it's as if it has power steering, the gearbox and axle are almost silent and has some serious power for a 1.3 A series! The 41k miles from new is most definitely genuine!
This a seriously fun car to drive though I know now why early cars were given a bad rap for their understeer :shh:  !

Thought I'd take the mumford for a spin in the sun. Got it started eventually with a little easy start, only to find the clutch seized. As the picture shows, out with the jack and axle stands, start up in second,up to 30mph on the speedo then jump on the footbrake, clutch and handbrake. Bang and it's free. Off round town till tea time.

I'm never that lucky with the stomp the brakes method, well done Glen. I take it that the top was down around town?
