Have you checked to make sure there is nothing missing off your Coupe?

Started contemplating a very misguided conversion from twin 1-1/2" HS4's to twin 1-3/4" Stromberg 175's (yes, I know picture only shows one, other was still connected to the TR6 intake at that point). See my other post:

Thoughts and comments (questioning my sanity is appropriate here...)

BTW, the head is a junk one, it's cracked, so I'm just using it to hold the intake manifold at the right angle.

You can buy twin 1.75" SUs on an ally manifold all ready to go, why go for Stroms?

My experience of strombergs on my wife's Rapier says avoid them if you can!!! Su's much easier and more reliable.

Simply put, money. #1, I'm on a pretty low budget, have strombergs and time, and like a challenge. #2, the regulations for the series are based on how much money you spend (take a look, 24hoursoflemons.com) and the strombergs were free...SU HS6's are hard to find over here as many TR owners swap them out. Also, manifolds are not readily available over here at any reasonable price...

I have just read your other post, that's a really low budget. So a bored out MGB inlet manifold and internally tapered adaptor plates between the SU manifold and the Stroms to get the bolt spacing correct.

I had that cold feeling when you start poking something with a sharp stick and bits disintegrate.... suffice to say the Ital is now very holey, there is a nice pile of etch primered 'bits' in the garage ready to be stuck back on with the hot stick and I'm tempted by an MGF round the corner for not much cash.....
Ruddy welder has ceased to function now...

Yup, that's about it. And in steel, too...cheaper and I can plasma cut and weld it as opposed to Aluminum...

Busy but productive day today. A few issues to overcome (related to using Maestro bits mostly, we tried to use as much as we could but in the end resorted to a new waterpump & using a Marina thermostat housing), and a gearbox that didn't want to talk to the engine (and I bought an alignment tool and everything- forgetting that there was a tailor- made one in the spare room, otherwise known as a spare input shaft

) but all looking good- just the alternator to sort, there's an extra spacer on there but I've a spare Marina one somewhere to cannibalise, and work out what we're doing in terms of throttle, choke cable etc.
Guess what tomorrow's plan is

well, hopefully anyway...
