Like the photos that Raining_Pianos_on_Marinas has posted the MK 2 1800 special pictures are excellent, especially like the one with the bigger wheels and the spiked tires, just a point to mention the car is white and not beige as Richard Hammond mentions, hard to take someone opinion seriously who cannot tell the difference between the two colour.

I think they should all be allowed to slip through the net. After all they are just looking for a laugh and it's not very sporting of us to stop them. I may even be tempted to use the A word again Whoo hoo...

Sean,
You can always visit their home turf at

Its good fun having a read through the vitriol, Jezza seems to be on there still hasn't come back about the 1100 pop question and no doubt raining is on there too.

Perhaps the best idea would be to drop a 100kg Hammond organ on a certain Viva coupe

Clarkson brags that TG lets him be very well paid for behaving like a 9-year-old schoolboy  - pretty much sums up the audience too. :P
I like TG

, but I put the brain in chav/bogan mode before watching.

I've just had a look through FG.... seeing as most of the posters aren't even from the UK, I doubt many would even know what a Marina is....
There seems to be more self-inflicted fury and ranting going on over there than here. Oh well....
Oh yes, watched Fifth Gear last night. John Barrowman proved he has no fear of anything and completely mullered a Subaru Impreza rally car whilst being taught how to be a rally driver at Sweet Lamb, Plato tried to have a rip around Europe in an Audi TT RS but got stuck in a traffic jam and Tiffany Dell and Plato had a challenge involving a couple of MCW double-decker busses which ended up in them drifting them; yes, you read that right, DRIFTING a 10-ton double deck bus!
Good little show, plenty of fun with no destruction. Makes TG look a tad infantile...

Totally agree with you but I do find the FG forum a laugh because I never take a Yank seriously anyway and neither does Clarkson. He hates the Yanks!!!

HI,
My Missus noted that, whilst watching, they (Clarkson & co )were also using 'canned laughter' when they were cracking jokes!
Which proves all the more that they really NOT that funny..........
Have a look and see. The audience not moving their lips but howls of laughter..

Great post form one of the members of Final Gear where the Fiat X19 is classed as a great car,..................read on.
The X1/9 was not properly developed for production, and a reputation for problems dogged the model throughout its remarkably long life. The confined space of the engine compartment meant that routine maintenance was often skipped, and it also led to problems with overheating. A cooling fan was added for the carburetor, which otherwise would get so hot fuel would vaporize in the float chamber, leading to fuel starvation. The exhaust system was placed below a vestigial trunk, which would get so hot that it was hazardous to place things here.Early models were also prone to premature rusting to an extent that it endangered the security of the steering rack. There were problems with rapid wear of the transmission and in particular, failure of the reverse gear, even if the driver was careful not to use reverse on even a modest driveway upgrade, rather backing downhill into the driveway to avoid strain. The fuel system would produce extremely fine rust that would pass through the fuel filter and settle in the carburetor bowl, eventually blocking a critical passage that required carburetor removal and flushing - well within the capabilities of the home mechanic, but a nuisance nonetheless.
Despite its mid-engined configuration, weight distribution was not perfect, the normally excellent handling soon worsened with wet or slippery conditions as the front wheels could struggle to gain grip under the relatively light front end of the car.By removing the spare tire from behind the passenger seat and securing it in the front compartment the directional stability for straight driving was greatly enhanced and the ride somewhat improved, at the expense of its quick handling at low speed. The low mounted catalytic converter required care in selecting an off-pavement parking location, lest a grass fire be started.Perhaps not such a good choice,of great car.
