With an original rack bush to hand it would be easy to get some proper bronze ones made up to the same dimensions. Problem solved!

Josh please feel free to go ahead with that and I’ll stop importing the polyurethane ones.

My rack bush is knocking, I replaced it when I got the car back on the road 7k ago, fairly sure it was the black one, might be worth a look

As Chris has mentioned I am going to fit one in a spare steering rack as part of a full strip down. This will be carried out in line with the repair instructions in the Original BL Repair Operations Manual. I will also see what modifications are needed to see what is needed to ensure bush stays in place if any. I will fit it to my coupe when the car has been run for rest of the summer, I will then inspect it to see its condition and location. I will also upload the instuctions for fitting once the bush has been inspected and verified

My red bush is fitted with 2 screws and has stayed in place. Car is not exposed to freezing temperatures so has not frozen in place or dislodged so far with about 10k miles

I fitted one of the red ones to the M reg coupé I had. Used just the one original screw. Think the guy I sold it to has done about 70k miles in it now and still going strong!

It's worth checking the top ball joint too for play if you hear knocking from the steering. It can sound exactly the same as a worn steering bush. Something I need to do to my girlfriends car after I thought the bush slid out again but turns out to be the swivel pin knocking around in the top of the upright.

Is there any news on the steering rack bush front? It seems I will be needing one judging by the play I have on the near side of my steering rack within its tube.
