Stu, the cylinders are the same body’s but the bore size is different. For your car you need a 15.90mm cylinder, QH part number: BWC3276 or Girling: GWC1202.

If you have brought the Ital 1.3 cylinders, QH part: BWC3263 or GWC1110 then they are a 17.50mm bore and are for the duel circuit brakes. You will probably find a sharper system but beware you could lock the backs before the fronts in an emergency!

That's ok Stu,

I'm not too sure of the fittings I thought they were 3/8th UNF but please don't quote me on that! I got all my fixings from a company called Steveson Motors. They are very resonable on price and qulity!

got the new cylinders in the post this morning and checked the bore sizes and they are both the same both about 16mm so looks like they could be right after all they were advertised as for ital 1700 and 2 litre don't know if that makes any difference
that'll ding dang do for me !!

If they are 15.90mm then yes they are right for your car. The Ital 1700 saloon's are the same but the estates should be 17.50mm. They kept changing the 1.3 cylinders over the years, I don't know why! What you will find is that at MOT the tester may have to look up the right weight of the car to make sure it is in the legal band. It is all rather odd.. The 15.90 cylinders are just in and the 17.50's much sharper so clear fine.

Geek hat off!

well i have fitted new brake pipe and rear cylinders tonight and also overhauled the front calipers with new seals etc etc and the car now has brakes first time in many years....took it off it's axel stands to try brakes but the clutch was still stuck, so into first gear and started her up a bit scarey but just before I hit my garden wall the clutch freed itself and the new brakes stopped me in time so all it needs now is the light switch and she's off to the mot man lets just hope he's as enthusiastic about a car that's been off the road all that time as I am :D :D :D :D :D

well she's been in for her test today and failed but on emissions only   the mot man said to give it a good run and that should cure it so I stuck 2 gallons of fuel in and some redex and crossed my fingers.....the car ran fine on the way down to the garage this morning and the mot man said they'd revved it and revved it but when I was out giving it some stick under hard acceleration it cuts out as if it's being starved of fuel, it will eventually start again but within 30 seconds will stop again and this process was repeated for 3-4 miles until I got back home any ideas what it could be I hope the redex hasn't knackered it up,I was going to strip and clean the carb tonight anyway but it's a bit of a worry as it might not even make it back for it's re test

The emissions should be a visual test on that year of car I would have thought Stu. Weakening the fuel mix might help it and kick the arse out of it for a while on a hard run.
Beauty with brains behind it!
