Welcome Philip - it would be good to see the car out at shows, where about's in the country are you?

I think that you asked about economy, a 1.3 should comfortably exceed 30 mpg. This quarter's Marina Owners Club Magazine has an article on the work needed to replace a front wing and if you hunt around the website here, there are lots of pics of the process.

Hi everyone, I am in Wiltshire and am hoping to get the car next Saturday and can promise if I get the car it will be with me forever. I am a proper BL fan and have a 1963 Rover 95 and a 2006 Rover 75.
I am a little worried about it as I haven't been able to contact the seller. You say it's been on eBay a few times with different sellers, this guy has had it for a year he said so now I am a little worried. Hopefully I am just getting over excited and being impatient. When I get it, you sure will see me at some shows. How much does it cost to join your club and what mark is this marina?

Philip

It's a Mk1 1.3 saloon known as a Super De Lux (SDL), the wing badges should say Super, the colour is Harvest Gold.

Morris Marina Owners Club membership is £18.00 per year, renewals 12 months from whenever you start.

You can download the membership application form from the club website http://www.morrismarina.org.uk

Your local club Area Rep is Dave Bristowe, he's on here as "black tulip TC", make contact and hopefully he'll be able to help with sourcing parts, local show dates etc.

Spoke to the seller, I was fussing over nothing so it will be arriving. :D :D
It has something stuck to the dash, what is it and would it be aftermarket? If it is I will remove it. Will this have the little silver and blue British Leyland badges on the wings? I like them! :)

I must apologise I am getting somewhat over excited, is this normal behaviour for a Marina owner? I know Rover 75 ownership does this to some people too.

hooray...another newbie.....i joined last week & its a great place with a good bunch of people
*ass kissing over* lol

another harvest gold mk1...excellent......marina's are quite addictive.....im now on my 6th!
mk1's seem to be better screwed together n more sturdy than later cars (waits for hate mail from ital owners) so chances are it wont be too bad.
classic insurance for these cars is sooo cheap....im with RH specialist n pay £100 a year fully comp with breakdown thrown in......so a great useable classic

sorry...waffling....welcome aboard

You might have wing badges, depending on if the workers were in the mood or not

Mine has one!

Well I don't think it has been on eBay for a while, it looks a fairly good car, it's probably the usual case of buy, no money to carry on project, then put back on eBay which is why it has been on a few times.

Looks very nice, love the colour. I always secretly wish mine was a more 70s colour

Looks more solid than mine too! My front wings are mainly filler so they wont rust  also got a few big holes where they meet the valance, allows circulation?

Good stuff. He reckons it's solid and only has a bit of rust on a wheel arch. Can you get repair sections for them? So what does super deluxe mean exactly? Am I being reckless driving a marina 150 miles that's not been on the road for nine months? Are they reliable? I used to work at an ex bl dealer and I cannot think of one single old skool BL engine ever exploding or needing to be taken to bits. It's going to have to live outside too, at least until we move but I am going to make sure I use it for work at least twice a week. I've heard that if you leave a marina in the wet you can hear it fizzing as it rusts. Do I need a tarpaulane sheet?

Man I'm excited, I've just insured it, £10 a month!!!!

A proper car cover would be a good investment. Can you park off the street?

Don't get one that traps moisture in as it will make it rust ten times more.

Start by cleaning all the mud and accumulated crap out of all the arches etc.

Buy some waxoyl and go round several times in every nook and cranny.

Should help preserve things.

Would be nice to be able to get some arch liners for Marinas.

Early start tomorrow.... wooo hoooo!!!!!!

What fuel do you put in your Marinas? I use unleaded and add castrol valvemaster plus in the Rover 95 should I do this in the Marina too?
