I've started something now haven't I. Its a bit like distributor points the old makers find the market is too small to be profitable and another maker take over with not necessarily the same quality control, but they will still work OK.
As for changing housings its just a bolt on job, I swopped them over from my spare 1.8 engine. you may well need to remove the dissy to get to the pipe union near the back plate and to use another spanner to stop the pipe stub screwed into the block coming lose.
Fram as a down hung filter is OK but I didn't like the upside down one at all, I also change oil and filter very frequently as its a smaller filter (cheap form of engineering).
