I will give you a shot of her once I get the new cylinder heads fitted Larry, I bet it will bring back some memories for you, Maybe even try and get hold of a Lodekka for you too as these would have been the motors in your garage I guess being a Central man!

I can clearly remember many a journey on a Bristol Lodekka, we had them on the Island for years as they were the only double deckers that would go under some of our old railway bridges!, we used to ride to school on them, i particularly remember they had like a trough you walked along on the lower deck to reach your seat, which was raised on each side on a step up sort of arrangement. We still have a few over in the old bus museum....good old days eh

Aye, I can imagine what it was like in those days Frank but the Lodekkas were before my time (driving wise) but I remember riding on them (just) when I was child. 13’9 was the height on them but it was the Atlanteans I drove when I passed my test, bloody heavy motors they were but they were fun driving through the streets of Edinburgh with a full load and having to stand up to get the motor round a tight corner! (No power steering)

Sounds like you would love our old bus museum Sean, they have loads of 50`s 60`s and 70`s buses in there, we had a few atlanteans, if i remember right they cut the roofs off most of them to convert them to open toppers for the summer seasons, very popular with the old "grockles"..( iow term for visitors)

Well guys I've kept the faith and my current car is a 1993 Rover 214 GSi.
My dad brought it new with 13 miles on the clock (I went for a test drive with him when it had just 9...), it now has 160,000.
Not bad for a car with a 'crap' engine.
It just goes to reinforce my view that BL/AR/Rover products are fantastic pieces of kit.
If they are looked after!

Yeah sounds good Frank, Edinburgh converted a lot of their Atlanteans into open toppers and it was all done in house which is a rarity these days and their finish to detail was spot on.
I used to be involved with a museum up here but the politics of it all was crap so I ended up pulling my bus out along with a few other guys. They put their buses in other museums (which some regret) but I found a private yard to house mine in so now my bus is in total private ownership. I still have really good friends and contacts in some of the museums which is handy for parts and advice!

Current cars are:
1994 306 Roland Garros (daily driver)
1973 1.8SDL Marina Coupe
1972 1.8TC Marina Saloon (Co Owned with Rexxtherunt)
1972 1850 Triumph Dolomite
have owned quite a few more but thats a different story. Cant fault the 306 really, annoying niggles on it due to sh*te french electrics but otherwise cheap and cheerful !

Fantastic, what a collection!
What I find most amazing about it is this, a number of us own other vehicles which were built by rival manufacturer's.
I have found with so many of the other clubs I have been involved with over the years, that some member's are totally involved with one model and will not entertain any other car!
