there was some light snow yesterday + my transporter is on summertires

so i opted for the trailer behind my trusty old rover 600. Luckily the snow changed into rain making the trip less "interesting"
The car is a non-runner so there was some issue with the ferrycompany not wanting to take it
Luckily my transport guy worked it all out . I've used him several times and if anyone needs a car transported in uk , i will higly recomend him. He is used to old classics as well - not ripping the car apart just to get in on the transport-truck. .. PM me if anyone would like the details.
And over to the "star" the new car
it's a non-runner - but not so bad chassis-wise
scuttle panel needs replacing

some worrying bodging where it meets the LH wing

and also som obvious repairs

Hopefully the bulkhead and lower A-post will be good
Upper A post in need of repair /replacement
both front wings are dented but looks sound
some rust on the lower edge of the LH door
Fairly good rear wheel-arches
with some home made inner-tubs bolted on

Jan I am glad you got it ok in the end and the ferry people did take it

changed the topic as the tear-down have begun
i'm not too familiar with comercials since they weren't imported so a few questions about orginality . mirrors first - are these the correct ones ?? /original ones ??

Hi Jan, no those are aftermarket ones mate, commercials usually had wing mirrors on mk1 cars and the mk2 was offered with the door mirrors as per the car

thanks Frank, should the door-mirrors be black or chrome ?? I take it the mk2 used same type of mirrors as on the saloons/coupes and not the round ones fitted to mk1 commercials ?

leftovers
new s/h doors starting to get finished. still not too sure about which mirrors to put on, and if there should be mirrors on both sides or just one of the side.

In my opinion extras like mirrors can always be justified if they were offered by the factory as optional extras and so could have been fitted if the customer ordered them. I'm sure that you'll have the correct original brochure to check?
Personally I think mirrors are both practical and have a potential safety aspect, so as long as they are the correct type - no problem.

Have to Agree Chris, i'm looking for some good second hand mirrors for the Blaze coupe and a passenger mirror for the Blue one, dont want new ones as they'd look out of polace on my cars, unless i decide to spray them i guess... keep up the good Work Jan
