Not the factory primer brown is it Andy?

If it's definately a metallic then the only other one that springs to mind is Brazil.

Reigngold was around on the 1st August 73, I remember my dads TC exact interior as well. It was ordered around Feb 73 and came in to the garage in June. It was kept for a M plate.

Hi Gary, no not primer that is the green colour that looks like tundra I saw,

The BL Mk1 parts catalogue lists the following

Morris Marina

Brasil paint Mk1 Coupes came with the following interior - Sorrel
Rhiengold Coupes were Ochre

Austin Marina

Brasil Coupes were Autumn Leaf
Rhiengold Coupes were Autumn Leaf

There were four other metallic colours listed;
Cosmic Blue
Chartreuse
Reynard
Aurora

Hi Chris, thanks, sorry not familiar with interior colours, whats the biscuit colour?

Brazil metallic cars were also available with a light beige cloth interior as I had a `74 saloon with this option (LDL722P) there was another one over here at the time which was exactly the same.
My gut feeling is that metallic shades were not used on Marinas until late `73 early `74 so there is definitely something odd here, if I could see a decent pic of this colour up close I could identify it for sure if it is an original colour, I have sprayed out colour swatches for every Leyland colour available in the 70`s and have been painting Leyland/BMC cars for nearly 30 years, it should be traceable

Frank according to the catalogue, the Coupes and Saloons had different coloured interiors. The Saloons had the following;

Morris Marina Saloon

Brazil - Mink

Rheingold - Olive

Mink was the later colour on the Saloons Chris (a light biscuit colour) cloth, the ochre was a more yellow shade.

Hi Frank, here's the problem, the car has been repainted and very thoroughly, inc boot and under bonnet, unfortunately not an original BL colour, the chap that painted it said the colour he used (Amazon Green) was very similar to the colour it originally was!. Chris advised me to check under dash as this is usually missed but there is not much to see! inside the rear panels when the interior was out there was a green similar to Tundra, I thought that must be the original colour but when I asked the chap who had painted it he said it was just a holding primer, and insisted again Amazon was very close to original colour,

Ive had the trim re done, it was a biscuity/yellow bright colour, not up to speed with catalogue names and colours Im afraid,

Hi Andy, with that colour interior I would almost certainly think the original colour would have been Rheingold Metallic like Darren Whites car, Brazil is a definite rich Brown colour, if the guy who painted it saw a greenish tinge in the paint it would more likely be Rheingold as it does show traces of green under scrutiny also the slightly yellow (ochre) trim would suggest the same, Brazil cars had mink interiors (light biscuit colour), hope this helps mate.

Andy where were the pictures taken - Aldridge Trimmers?

Rheingold on an "early" rear valence car tho Frank?, don't think I've ever seen a metallic "early" car like this one..?

OK let's play detective, who has an early colour chart? Let's see if we can work out when the metallic colours were introduced? I think that they are dated aren't they?

Hi Chris, no this is a chap called Gerry, his business is Inflex interiors, quite slow, bit concerned when first vinyl roof went wrong but its all put right now, the seats and door cards are very nice !

Sorry Frank the green tint is in the new colour! (amazon Green) as pic, not the original colour
