I make that the 10th oldest survivor, you had better turn it back into a MK1
So let's have a top ten earliest surviving Marinas
New in at number ten: ANJ 233J (6205)
9: JRO 445K (57**)
8: JWY 376J (53**)
7: JHC 999J (5293)
6: EEA 462J (5055)
5: GPC 421J (47**)
4: TDL 229J (2465)
3: CAE 419J (24**)
2: CUE 679J (22**)
1: FPH 441J (1498)
I have blanked out the last two figures of VIN numbers that aren't already visible in the public sections of this forum.

Where are those then Josh?
Are they going to stay there and rot in to the ground like so many others?

Just down the road from me, known about them for a while but never got round to going to look at them!!
I know club members have tried leaving notes and knocking for them but to no avail. Shame as I doubt there are many Limeflower TC coupes left!

Time for an update...
We are now at 37 known surviving 1971 build cars.
According to How Many Left? there are 18 71 cars taxed and 16 SORN when going by year of registration, there are 6 taxed and 5 SORN when going by year of manufacture (according to the same website going by years of registration there is also one 1958 Marina, a 1960 one, a 1961 one, one from 1963, three from 1964, two from 1966, 1 from 1967 and 1 from 1970- so you make your own minds up on how accurate their data is....!)
Of the 37 cars.....
14 are J reg
23 are K reg
7 are Bedouin
8 are Flame Red
6 are Blaze
2 are Glacier White
4 are Limeflower
6 are Teal Blue
1 is Midnight Blue
1 is British Racing Green
1 was Harvest Gold originally
1 is Aqua
19 are 1.3s
18 are 1.8s
6 are DLs
23 are SDLs
7 are TCs
1 is unknown (only got a poor photo of it)
17 are saloons
20 are coupes
When these figures are backed up by information from 71 cars that are now dead or believed dead it appears that the most popular colour in 71 was Bedouin, strange why it disappears from the colour options in 72! All the Bedouin cars are early wiper pattern
The wiper pattern changeover time is unclear- chassis number 49314 had the 'later' pattern but a car with a chassis number just over 55000 has the 'earlier' pattern. Possibly because BL had a larger stock of a particular type of loom? (alternator/dynamo).
One is currently on an R registration (AOX 705K) but I have listed it under the K regs. Does anybody have a VIN number for AOX? Or did it get a new VIN in 1975/77? (DVLA lists date of manufacture as 1975 which is clearly wrong) Would be interesting to see if it was a pre-production car or not. I am currently in conversation with a previous owner of one of the WOK ***J cars which should be interesting

Josh, the 60`s Marinas you referred to above would be export 1100/1300 cars (ADO16) type these were sold abroad as Marinas

I did wonder that but never seen any ones registered in the UK as Marinas! Mind you there are some Austin Marinas over here so it's certainly possible

Well, that explains why it is that there have been Corgi models of 1100/1300's on Ebay being sold as Marinas. I thought someone had made an error in their listing.
Gary.

Indeed! Possibly thou, I wouldn't have got it, if it had been a J
The date marked on the door panel is 28/05/71. So at least the interior is lol

BL stockpiled about 5000 cars before launch so it's likely yours was built around May/June 71.
By 1st August 71 BL were at least on about 15000 so your car is definitely a J reg underneath
Don't know of any J reg TC saloons!
