That cage bearing matches the larger diameter main shaft and the different first motion shaft.
You need all or it won't fit

Took REP to the garage yesterday to have the steering rack changed, then took it to have the tracking done. It was way out as the steering rack that was on REP was off a MK2. While driving to the garage, It wouldn't go into first gear, but, eventually, I made it to the garage. It stalled just as I got into the garage, I opened the bonnet and the clutch fluid had drained out!! the nut wasn't tightened properly!! what a day.

I needed to sort out the courtesy light switches on PTH so popped on to ebay to see if I could find some new ones. Their the same as the early Mini but have you seen the price on them! New ones were out of the question so I had a good look at the ones I had to see if they were salvageable. The pins were stuck in so I soaked them in WD40. I didn't hold much hope for the springs inside so I pulled the nylon cap off of the end and withdrew the pin and surprisingly the spring inside was fine but the passenger side had rusted fast. There is a sleeve that fits into the button which the spring presses against and it was that which was causing it to stick. I had to destroy the sleeve to get it and the rotten spring out. I used a pop rivet end to replace the sleeve and a spring from an old parker pen
All cleaned up and put back together and now work perfectly probably the only car I've ever owned where the courtesy lights actually work as they should!
I've included some pics of how they come apart..

The ones in my TC are linread i think and are stainless steel. I polished them up on the polish wheel. These are held with one screw at the top and are all metal.
I know what you mean on price as new ones are expensive for what they are.

I know the type, TDT has them. REP has different ones again, their white plastic with a black pin.. I think their Unipart? They seem to be the most reliable.

Fitted these little period reflectors today. I've had them for years but had turned yellow with age so I scrubbed them up and gave them a bit of paint

Their just rubber reflectors.. probably from the 60's.

I bought some of those early switches too

Fitted a new wing today, then removed grill to find bad rust behind the headlight!!!

Yup, if the wing is shot then the headlamp panel usually is.

Trying to get my head around this, from a hypothetical perspective.

Is the wing the front side part of the car (lies adjacent to the engine)? And surely that rust would have been visible from opening the bonnet and seeing the headlight area.

In that particular instance, what do you plan to do?

I guess it was not a front wing you were fitting as when fitting it you would have to remove the grill to do so! Or do you mean before you fitted the wing you decovered the rot around the headlamp?

The inner wing that separates the wheel arch from the engine compartment, is closer in towards the centre line, so the Marina headlamp backs open onto the wheel and collect mud and crap. The later Ital had different inner wings that run behind the headlight.

I took my TC for a visit to Liverpool to meet up with John lawson.
John founded the Marina and Ital Drivers Register back in 1986. He's a really lovely fella if any of you ever had dealings with him.
He kept meticulous records which I've collected tonight to take to Josh .
Saw the first ever club magazine too!
I'm sure much of this material will keep the club magazine going for quite sometime!
