Think a lot of people saw the pick up forsale last week but I wanted another project so what better thing to do and take the engine out and even though I'm a bit gutted it isn't going to make nationals but i might still be there to have a look round at other marina's so here's a little pic of the pick up with the engine missing :frown:

That's a bit of a shame What's the plan for the pickup now? Or the engine for that matter?

Well as I've had a fondness for force induction cars For as long as I can remember and built a few the pick up is now going turbo charged just to add to the excitement of driving this little beauty

Good stuff! So turbocharging the XE? I've only managed an 8v turbo in a Marina so far and that is a ball ache, but it is fun... when it isn't in pieces. Admittedly I didn't build it, and it no way holds up to your standards, but like you I love forced induction. Maybe one day I can actually dive more that 2 miles in mine!

Erm... Well its running... and currently sat at the back of a garage covered in dust. Company charged with re-wire have done sweet FA with it... I want to pull it back home but need to sell white TC first.

Bought an oil filter the other day on eBay. I like cars to be original but the line has to be drawn somewhere!

The listing said new/unused and the pic on eBay said Library Picture.. I was expecting a run of the mill Halfords oil filter, didn't think I was actually buying a 1970's oil filter!
Not sure whether to use it or not?

If you use it make sure you have a oil pressure gauge you can keep you eye on

Moved "oil pressure issues of TDT" to Gareth's readers project thread.

Was it just the block and crank you sent off? Need to do same but haven't a clue where to start.

Re- engine: Back in the 80s bought a built up refurbished 1300 short block and took the old one back a few days later- engine was burning oil at the rate of around 1pt in 40 miles when driven hard. Still worked fine otherwise though. Expensive but quick way of sorting as only had to swap all the bits over with new clutch and a decent gearbox. Not sure that helps though as spare engines are rare (and expensive it seems) and as said that was a "throwing money at the problem" solution. I didn't and still wouldn't have the confidence to build the block up myself.

In my case the title should always read "What didn't you do to your Marina today?" Sooo....with fuel pump gasket paper still yet to be obtained, no desire to change the engine oil till I'm sure the fuel leak (from said fuel pump) is gone, I decided, once the torrential downpours outside had stopped, to drain the coolant, flush the rad, and fit my 'new' hoses obtained a few weeks back off eBay. Guess what? I CANNOT FIND MY NEW HOSES!!! I turned the house over, the shed, the loft, looked in every drawer, shelf, cupboard, nook, cranny, everything. Drawn a complete blank. Long before I stopped the search I spat my dummy out, abandoned all thoughts of the job, and pushed the Marina back into the relative safety of my shoddy sectional pre-formed concrete garage with no space to work and no power supply. There. Another weekend with nothing achieved. Result.
