Sad day as Marina sold - gone to a serial BL collector. Thanks everyone for support in the build and supply of parts.

What did I do to my Marina today? Well, I got another years MOT on it 8-).

Well chuffed as it passed first time for the second year running and even passed emissions, which was a surprise ;). Annoyingly, after the hours of work and amount of parts I fitted to it to get it ready for its MOT, it came out with 5 advisories. They're only minor things but oh well, a pass is a pass :-D. Now time to re-focus on the MK1 .

Had a go at sorting out the rotted bottom corners of the rear quarterlight windows on Ozzy (same problem Uncle Frank had with the ST Coupe).

Fortunately I have a spare pair, so I had a go at extracting the top brackets from those.

Managed to loosen some of the screws at the top corners, but couldn't get some to budge. Resorted to drilling them out, starting with a really small bit and using larger bits until the heads came off.

Managed to get the brackets out without damaging them, now I just need to find replacement screws. Been pointed to a couple of places.

Got the gearbox out of my ute and onto the the bench singlehand, a lot of sweat was lost and heaps of grunting was involved.

Now to figure out how to get the selector shaft back far enough to replace the rolled pin and the fitting it holds in place. :-?

If you take the top off the gearbox you can release the selector shaft and push it out through the rear of the tailshaft housing..

Might need to remove the bellhousing to drive out the front pin.

Well after about a month of the car starting rough (sounded like it was on 3 cylinders), and for the first 2 minutes running with lack of power, I thought I'd better investigate. Found the problem....

Now starts sweet and has it's power back .

Fitted a new clutch to my rebuilt engine as the old one was full of oil (thats what was giving me instant bite when it was in TDT) also had to replace that metal water pipe that comes out top of the cylinder head. About ready to go back in Id say but its pretty cold out on the driveway this time of year and Im not getting any younger.... I better get starded then

Managed to loosen some of the screws that hold the corner of the rear quarterlight windows together, and drilled out the rest. Took one into a screw supplier I'd been recommended on oldschool.co.nz and got some replacement ones, although the shortest they had were 3/8 not 3/16. Test fitted one and found it didn't foul, so decided not to trim them. Put the windows back together, now just need to be cleaned before refitting. :-)

But need to work out how the stainless trimsfit around the window opening, before I can install the window.

Went to change the internal bush on steering rack and bush just would not go in. Gave up trying with rack on the car so took it off and :o found the reason straight away. My car must have been in a decent shunt before and the rack was bent! No wonder the steering felt well not quite right all these years ! Got an old rack so gonna rebuild good parts from one to another and end up with a decent one hopefully.
