True, i've got the same problem, the body rolls like an old boat on a stormy sea and it bottoms out on even the smallest undulation in the road; great fun going over the A57 Snake Pass.
Thankfully i've got a new pair of springs ready to fit. Just had some U bolts made up by Owen Springs:

Decent bunch, they even remembered the specs for Marina springs from back in the day.

That's handy to know. I might give them a call as the last ones I bought (eBay) I had to use lowering blocks.

Spent a couple of evenings this week addressing the stain on the rear seat.





It looks like where the car was in storage with the rear seat down for 37 years the sound proofing mat had stained it.



So I popped to Bradley's and bought some of their vinyl paint, I've had success before using it so I knew what to expect...



A good clean and a wipe down with their plasticiser and then 4 coats later.



All one colour again, annoyingly though the colour is slightly off, it's a little more purple but it's still better than it was, it will have to do for now



I've also now removed the steering rack last night to fit one of Chris's bushes as I have a lot of play one side.



And shock/suprise I found my clutch slave is leaking... FML.

Shame about the colour being off. That stain would have annoyed me. One of my door cards has been painted and is a bit more orange than the rest. I take it the noisy bush in the rack doesn't affect the MoT? I've been wondering why my car had a NOS rack before I got it with no advisories on the MoT history. I guess it could have been about the bush and a less enlightened person decided a new rack was needed. Mind you it drips a bit of oil! Re. the clutch, old rubber is always a swine.

I had a knocking noise then driving and with the wheel jacked up there was a hell of a lot of play inside this gator between the rack and track rod.



Apparently it's a common fault with them where this bush breaks up with age so I've ordered one of Chris's uprated ones, I suspect many a rack has been swapped out over the years when all they have needed is this £23 bush.

Dad came round today for a few hours so we stripped the rack and fitted this bush, it took a little working out what to do but after some advice from Josh/Jono we sussed it, the original bush wasn't even there anymore, just the outer casing.



After getting that out and fitting the new bush and adding a new screw to stop it from moving we lut it all back together adding some new ep90 oil and it seems much better now. There's a mark on the shaft from where it must have sat for years and we guess the original bush just broke up when it was moved for the first time.

Wow, not seen that before, well done for fixing it.

How does she drive now?

Trigger if the clutch slave bore is OK, I have some NOS seal kits as well as recon slaves.

Not back in UK until 23/09 though.

It's still up on axle stands as I need to sort the blowing exhaust out and I might as well do the clutch slave the same time, I'm going on holiday next week so it will have to wait for a few weeks before I get chance to look at it again now.

I bought a seal kit of MEVSpares a little while back so I think me and dad will try and repair it first, if it can't be fixed then I'll be in touch for another recon cylinder Chris!

While welding the exhaust bracket on REW tonight, I decided it was time to upgrade the welding box . I bought a tool box of full of tools at a car show this year for £2.50 as the guys said they were fed up loading it up, not selling it and taking it home again. Got some pretty decent tools in there but was wondering what I could use the huge box for now the tools are in my tool boxes . This was the answer

From this: To this: I like the old, solid metal toolboxes as they can take (and handle being metal rather than plastic) more tools which I'm sure I'll be buying in the future

Fitted a 13» Moto-Lita wheel with Leyland ST spec together with new Superflex bushes on the damper arms. What a fabolous feeling:)

Nice wheel.
I have an ST wheel from 1973 had Motolita re-leather the wheel rim.
Had a name written on the rear of the wheel centre which turns out to be the original person who stitched the wheel in 1973!

My OCD is kicking in on your boss screws though

Paul, you would like all the screw slots lined up, wouldn’t you ?

I will consider to line up the screws for you;) The boss is NOS in this case but the wheel is new. Got a written message from one of the employees at Moto-Lita in Norwegian with the shipment which was a cool surprise.

As you can see the black part of mine have faded with age and use but still a very good wheel.
