Well, she's now in storage. 7 degrees celsius and enough rain to wash away a lot of the salt. I put poly bushes on the tie rods during the summer and realized today on the run to storage [out in the country with hills and curves] how much of a difference they make. Not like my MGB GT but much more precise than it was and no white knuckles, even in somewhat slick conditions.

Just by doing the tie rods? Worth knowing.

I agree it’s the quickest and easiest suspension mod that you can make and it makes the biggest difference to the handling and turn-in.

Fwiw someone on ebay Australia is selling a dozen NOS rubber tiebar bushes. I presume even new rubbers would be too compliant for good handling, compared to poly bushes?

I was reading something recently (it might have even been Understeer) where rubber oxidizes with age no matter what. But sometimes you have no choice but try NOS items. I bought NOS Unpart top and bottom hoses for mine and so far so good, and the alternator belt I got from Euro Car Parts for my 20 old everyday car looked like it had been on the shelf for a while.

I had NOS tie bar bushes fitted to my fresh restoration of the Jubilee and they exploded before the car went on the road!
So poly ones went in.

The club can supply rad and heater hoses for all the UK cars. New rubber, not 20 years old.

I bought club heater hoses after attending the 2016 Nationals at Quorn. As far as I can remember I bought my top and bottom hoses off eBay pretty early on after I got the car in April 2016. I'd joined the club but didn't know what was and wasn't available or how to go about getting it. The rad hoses are much easier to change than the heater hoses but the ones I bought were pliable, not hard and so far they are okay. There was a spoonful of coolant again on the spill pad under the gearbox when I put the car in storage for winter, still no sign of where it had come from. So it couldn't be from my other car as I had said before, as that one had only been in the garage the once. So there's something to investigate next year.

Bought new door channel rubbers, weatherstrips and clips from a local supplier, Basis in Blenheim (NZ). Ordered on Friday, arrived on Tuesday, pretty good service.

Got a set of JBW/Dunlop D1s delivered which I ordered on black friday.

Exact same dimension on these vs my original wheels 175/70-13 and weighed in at 11.5 kg vs 13.1 kg. 1.6 kg reduction in unsprung mass is actually pretty good and together with 1 in extra width on the rims that should be an actual performance improvement on handling (in theory at least...). Exited to see if it is possible to feel any difference in real life

Started mine up as it hasn't moved since September.
Fired up very quickly and no clutch sticking and also had to jump start the escort as it's elderly battery seems to have now given up the ghost.... also had to bale out the boot of a gallon of water....(ford's eh)
However the marinas thermostat housing has sprung yet another leak and one of the downpipe rings is blowing slightly.
Next job will be to replace the speedo cable that went in Devon and change back to its original now working clocks.

Had my Brown Coupe running. Battery was flat started with Jump pack, ran it up to temperature. Rodents have had a nibble at electric fan wires nothing serious. Cutch was on the point of sticking but slipped it a bit in 1st and Reverse to get heat into flywheel and clean up any rust.

Bought a carb rebuild kit last year which was meant for my project but TDT needed a new spindle and jet needle, so I went to work on that over the last few days. Still won't start and the alternator is starting to play up, also when I turn the key it kills all power, no dash lights, nothing

Hey I had that book! Can't remember that title though... Turn the key and all power goes! Have you tried reversing the polarity? Or re-routing all power from the phaser banks to the plasma injectors? It seems to work on TV...
