Replaced the thermostat on my saloon, previous one was duff even though it was new the temp needle stayed in the cold zone! Warms up quickly now and stays nicely in the "normal" position.

Ordered up some new number plates for Eileen the Ital, gone for period-correct black on white/yellow raised riveted with bevelled edge plates.

Excellent- although it bugs me when people whinge about incorrect style number plates on cars (it's up to the owner what they want so far as I'm concerned), it does make a difference when people make the effort to get it right!Tenner wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2020 2:55 pm Ordered up some new number plates for Eileen the Ital, gone for period-correct black on white/yellow raised riveted with bevelled edge plates.

I'm not fussed by it either, but a touch of attention to detail is always nice.PHUQ wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:10 amExcellent- although it bugs me when people whinge about incorrect style number plates on cars (it's up to the owner what they want so far as I'm concerned), it does make a difference when people make the effort to get it right!
We're lucky to have such relaxed laws in the UK, in a lot of countries its completely illegal to have a new set of plates made in an older style, regardless of the age of the car.

Sorted some wiring out on TDT today. I thought the solenoid packed up, when turning the key there was an audible click from the solenoid and the dash warning lights went out, car completely dead. Turned out to be a couple of wires connected to the fusebox, two white wires if I'm remembering right. The spades were barely connected! Easiest fix on the car yet I think:)

Nice when things turn out like that Gareth, it's usually the other way round isn't it?Morris McKinnon wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2020 7:56 pm Sorted some wiring out on TDT today. I had a good example today. I've got a new wing just fitted and went out to put some red oxide primer on, opened the boot to get a screwdriver out to remove the grill and the left hand boot hinge snapped!
Luckily I've got a mk2 coupe rotting away in my drive so I was able to fit the one from that.

Yes, they do brake, it's a pain when that happens. Same happened on TDT a couple of years back, the torsion spring let go.ScreamingLordStokes wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 8:00 pmNice when things turn out like that Gareth, it's usually the other way round isn't it?Morris McKinnon wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2020 7:56 pm Sorted some wiring out on TDT today.
