Deluxe will have two dial dash and no dash vents. Super will have three dial dash with a clock and dash vents.

Also have several boxes of parts, including door handles and a 3-dial dash, and a complete spare 1750 engine (in Auckland). Yell out if you need anything.

Yup, sounds like a Deluxe then. No dash vents and two dial cluster. If that 3 dial cluster is a spare I'm definitely interested in that. I'll wait until the car is here and then make a list of everything I need.

Took Gabby out for the first time since lockdown 2020, got as far as sainsburys for fuel & tyre presures, key stuck couldn't turn off ign..
Using small adjustable spanner [all i had with me] closed around key, managed to turn key to off. having got fuel had same trouble to start up,
so left it running whilst checking tyres, course it had cut out by the time i'd finished. won't start again [vapour lock maybe?],curseing i couldn't chug it forward on the starter,[automatic] i had to risk a hernia & push it out of way [people waiting].
With bonnet open took about 10 mins to re-start.. then round to lockup to top up brake fluid, cut out again... another wait... then back home ..
Now despite wd 40 around key & pliers after about 10 mins of this, still cant move key from no 2 position [ign on] to off, so put away in garage & disconnected batt earth & left it 4 now...
So even if i can get key out & get full motion of ign again i don't feel i can trust it... bein Auto can't jump or tow start it i could get really stuck...
I really need another Ign barrel, if anyone in Marina Land can help that would be great.
Ive put an add in the wanted section as well.
So its a rt hand drive 1978 mk 2...
Thanks Gil...

That's a bugger Gil. I had same problem with my 1.3 coupe, the key stuck in the barrel and I thought it wouldn't budge. Spent about ten minutes gently twisting, pushing and pulling and it eventually came free. After that I put a drop of oil on each side of the key before putting it back in the barrell and it seemed to do the trick. I also put a drop of oil on the slight gap between the inner and outer part of the barrell.
The cutting out problem could be sediment in the carb. If the car's been stood a while sediment can settle in the float chamber and cause a blockage. This is something that I also experienced with my coupe. One minute it was fine and seemed to be running fine, next it would cut out and not start. An in line fuel filter eventually cured the problem.

Hi All,
just joined the forum with my 1.8 Super which arrived today.
I've already broken the handbrake lever!

Well that shows a willingness to learn..

Welcome aboard, you can get advice here that you don't even need.! Lol.
I once bought a Marina that had a combination lock on the handbrake lever.
Inevitably I forgot the combination and had to hacksaw it off.

But it has always been fun.
Not many cars give as much of that.

Cheers from New Zealand and best luck on this new adventure.

Welcome Clansman - I’m sure that someone will have a spare handbrake etc.

Did you break the lever or the cable.?
