Sounds good. Am interested!

Hi all.
I need a new oil pump for our old Morris Marina 18. Based in Nairobi, Kenya. Any leads on how I could get one? What specs would you need?

It will be exactly the same as the oil pump for a 1971-1980 MGB. The Marina 1.8 shared it basic engine with the MGB. You may have more luck searching for MG parts in Africa, than asking for Marina parts. I would expect that there will be MG parts shops in SA.

The weekend has gone and progress made. Kermit now has a Stainless Steel exhaust replacing the cobbled together mild steel jobby. Thanks to Josh Ward for supplying the Stainless one. Had a local garage fit it as I am getting to too old, lazy and wise to be under cars fitting exhausts by myself, these days.
The garage did a good job, at a very reasonable price, but was reticent to do up the flange ring too tight because of fears of cracking the manifold. As a result a tiny blow but sorted this weekend with a little exhaust sealant and tweaking of bolts.
Now also possess a working fuel gauge, courtesy of Balmy - thanks also! In the end had to take fuel tank off to undo the ring but took the opportunity to paint the top of the tank and check the inside for rubbish. Whilst the car was on stands re-greased the trunnions and steering much improved, but suspect new trunnions needed. A job for the spring!
Now only the rear windscreen heating element to sort and some rear seat belts.
One job I am looking at, and have started, is a concertinaing car cover to protect Kermit from the ravages of the British winter. Needed as I don't have garage space available.
Basically four hoops on wheels covered in canvas or similar. In this way the cover can be moved back and forward when I want to park the car, drive it away or work on it!

Had a nice drive to the coast at Cleethorpes.
Bit of drama when I stopped at some lights and the engine cut out. Started again with a bit of throttle and kept the revs up 'til we reached the Services where I found that I'd neglected to nip the locking nut up on the idle setting screw which had gradually been vibrating loose until there was no idle left!

Not mine, but a certain club Ital that came in for some welding. New club hangers fitted up lovely.

Out in Kermit today, just a short run to stretch it's legs.
Was going to go on a longer run last weekend but on pulling out the choke the thing pulled right out.
On investigation the threaded cast body at the top, inevitably made from "monkey metal", had disintegrated at the cable sheath end.
Plenty of 60" chokes on Ebay but need 66".
Solution - turned a brass ferrule to connect the two. Soldered to the sheath and super glued to the casting. Assembly back in car and "appears"to be working a treat!

Daughters boyfriend managed to write his car off so am lending him my day car. As a consequence Kermit is being used for daily commute.
Noticed Battery was draining a bit so have fitted an isolator switch but suspect the Starter Motor is dodgy now!
Have started to try to fix the Rear Window heater switch. One of the clips holding the switch together has broken so have repaired using 0.8 mm pins!
Had to buy some Lilliput Edison pea bulbs as the indicator light in the switch had blown - is nothing easy?

Managed to repair original and heated rear screen working - but forgot how slow the window demists compared to today's cars!
Have also wired in a Ring 21 Watt reversing light, to supplement the original reversing lights.
