As requested Number63 - it was my first time and was great fun.

I'll try to tell the story as I go..

Saturday was and apparently always is a get together day, as various people will arrive, at various times, on various ferries, so no show to attend although a bunch of us met in the evening in Shanklin and went for a meal. Lots of Marina and Ital blah, blah.

Sunday was Robin Hill, an adventure park, so great for children of all ages. The weather wasn't great and we had to be there before 9.30, so they could get us into the show area before they opened to the public, as for some reason they don't like their punter's children getting run over.

After a while some of us got bored (alright Daren and myself)

We stayed until about four'ish and could have stayed for the evening as they were showing an outdoor film show, Saturday had been Grease, but the Sunday was Jungle Book, but I think only I knew all the songs.

Monday opened much warmer and everyone gathered at Calbourne Mill, which is both a beautiful spot anyway and was sheltered in a little dell.

Together with the Marinas and Itals were a Mini club, some odds and sods (including Ben's 2.8 Capri) and a large display of stationery farm engines.

Towards the end of the day, we took some posed shots of individual cars by the little windmill on site.

That's great Chris, Thanks for that. 8)
I see lots of owners club mag shots there at the end.
Brings back lots of memories for me as I worked and lived on the Island for a year or so around 10 years back. My usual Saturday and Sunday cycle run took me from Carisbrooke up the hill & out past Calbourne to Freshwater, past Frank's workshop and back via Yarmouth and the main road towards Newport. Happy days. 8) Looks like you all had a good weekend, very jealous.

What a great weekend!, thanks to everyone who took the trouble to come over, it was nice to see you all, the weather was fantastic on the monday and the rest of the week looks good for those staying on too.
Some great cars turned out, the standard of cars gets better every year, Darrens TC and Pauls Jubilee were particularly stunning and a credit to their hard work, a few nice standard Mk1 Cars were matched by a couple of nice Mk2`s.
Looking forward to next year already!
Thanks again everyone.
Frank. 8)

All

I left at around 4.30 on the Monday to catch the ferry. I understand there was an evening car run out to the White Mouse pub. If anyone has pics from the car run and/or the car park of the White Mouse, if they can email them to me with some words of wisdom, I'll add them to my report on here and on the club website. All contributions will be creditted in the report, likewise any other special pics from the weekend, that can be added in with an explanation would be welcome.

Hi Chris, Sorry did not take photos of that bit of the weekend! But it was a bit hard when doing 75 - 80MPH and having Andy W over taking you
It seems it turned in to a bit of a rally from the mill to the white mouse! Jim was working his way up from the back and Andy from middle to front!
My excuse for Andy passing was -
A. He came out of nowhere
B. I had not expected it
C. I was fully laiden with 2.5 people and a boot full of stuff!
D. Maybe my fuel was still leaking
E. Still had a dodgy gearbox.
F. Road was not flat.
G. Didn't want to repeat what I did 23 years ago

I think that covers it but if pushed I could think of some more :D

Managed to fit a gearbox in on the way home though, so I will be investigating that over the winter  Thanks Jim.

I didn't think there was any need for an explanation Paul ;)
It was an excellent run from the mill. I managed to get fairly far behind the majority of the pack following bob I'm his auto 1.3. I did find out that my choice of car that day only gets Any decent power between 3500rpm and 5000rpm.. That's what Siamese ports do to an already restricted engine!

Sorry, I digress. Time to get on with the marina me thinks!

Regards,

Ben
