Another 71 TC saloon has survived, that makes three in total
An update on the cars that were known to exist within the last few years but are currently 'unlicensed' so I don't know whether they have survived or not....
These are:
AKR 879K- 1.8 coupe, being used to reshell a Mumford- still don't know if this is still out there or not
KUL 113K- 1.3 DL coupe, Limeflower, unlicensed since 2008- this was stolen and never recovered
HUV 423K- 1.3 SDL saloon, Limeflower, was being restored by Andrew Wita, he then sold it on, it doesn't appear on any registration number database- no information about this
TCL 592K- 1.8 TC coupe, Limeflower, unlicensed since 2002- sitting in a garden near me!
SFG 531K- 1.3 coupe, unlicensed since 1994 but mentioned on this forum in 2009- no information about this one still
MCU 274K (was SPO 110K), 1.8 SDL coupe, Limeflower, unlicensed since 2012- living safe and sound with a forum member
So if anybody knows anything about AKR 879K, HUV 423K or SFG 531K then please get in touch

I can see no mention of NWB185K in the lists at all but then it wasn't registered until 1-2-1972 so probably not a 1971 built car?
I do not have any chassis number details for it and sadly its no longer around as it went through one of my local "Vehicle recylcing centres" in July 2012.
I did a DVLA enquiry for it at the time and it came back with this :
Vehicle enquiry
The enquiry is complete.
The vehicle details for NWB 185K are:
Date of Liability : 17 08 1993
Date of First Registration : 01 02 1972
Year of Manufacture : Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) : 1275cc
CO2 Emissions : Not Available
Fuel Type : PETROL
Export Marker : N
Vehicle Status : Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour : BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval : Not Available

A shame I can't zoom in on the VIN number
It may have been a late 71 car, I know of one 71 car not registered until July 72. My DL saloon was built in January 1972 and not registered until May! It is difficult to tell late 71 cars apart from early 72 ones.
Looked like it was a nice early car all the same, such a shame it hasn't survived

No need to be sorry, great to hear it is still out there

Next time you take a look at it or the V5 I would love to know the VIN number (best to PM it to me rather than put it on the forum!) to find out how old it is

Wonder how close my coupe is to being a late 71 car being registered in 72??

A little update.
As you can all see SFG 531K is safe and sound with a forum member and is I believe the second oldest surviving DL coupe
Only 'missing' cars now are AKR 879K and HUV 423K.
There are now 39 known surviving 1971 cars on the register! I originally started it because I thought 71 build cars were very rare but there seems more have survived than I first thought- great stuff
Keep sending in those reg and VIN numbers please folks

Will eventually get round to publishing some more detailed results!
Josh.

Found out about another one....
VUR 870J, Flame Red 1.3 SDL coupe registered 23rd April 1971 (Pre-launch). The registration date doesn't make it massively early, it is later than CAE 419J (the current oldest known coupe) as it doesn't have the side window trims but it must still be one of the first 5000 or so cars.
It was sold in 1998 and was featured in a magazine at the time, unlicensed since 2000. The seller at the time has been contacted but the trail goes cold after that, he sold it to a friend who passed away so probably scrapped when he passed away

And another one!!
WDE 116K, Glacier White 1.3 DL Coupe registered 10th December 1971
Exported now, had done 15k miles in 2006.
Stunning! If the owner is reading this and wants to sell it to me......

I have even got my girlfriend on the case now, she just sent me this

Sadly the reg number doesn't exist anymore so long gone. Not sure on the colour, looks like a Limeflower interior so probably Teal Blue or maybe British Racing Green, 1.3 DL, not sure if coupe or saloon??

Hurry up and get that data up on the site Josh, god forbid but if you get hit by a bus what happens to all your hard work?
Just look after yourself, well at least until you get all the data published
