I dunno- perhaps not the most PC of themes but it's an association that's been going on for a long time.

I think Balmy has done a good job of following the theme without going OTT- what better than using motorshow pics promoting the car to promote our cars at a motorshow?

And to be fair, the other option was a car in a field of sheep... and we're ridiculed enough as it is

I doubt whether anyone will make the same connection. I think we can say, this is the way it was, hasn't the world changed?

The BBC and ITV have been showing 1970s very un-PC sit-coms using the same justification.

It's the theme set by the damned organisers Chris, nowt to do with us!

Although I agree that "this is how it was, not how it is" should be the stance we take, and I suspect many of the other clubs will too. Mind you, promo girls aren't exactly a rare breed at modern motorshows, and generally rather less classily garbed too.

It's funny, but none of our ladyfriends were prepared to dress up and replicate the press shots in 3D. Not sure if that's a reflection on how society has changed, or just the prospect of having to put up with us lot for the weekend

Yeah it's the organisers theme. They have one each year.
Read the last line.

I sent an email to all of the committee members stating what I was doing and I think you where the first to reply and agree Chris so why now are you saying this?

Photo on page 1 of this thread confirming that the association of attractive ladies and cars is still very much a thing  :silent:

NEC 2015

David, I must admit I had interpreted it as beautiful cars not girlies. Just read the NEC blurb in the link, what were they thinking? Still that's what they have asked for.

Anywho unlike in period TVR had nude models on the stand, BL kept everyone fully clothed. I am pleased that we are not being asked to get our kit off. It could clear the hall .

We did discuss the tongue in cheek of turning the theme on its head and dressing up Gil/Phil/Matt in a Rocky horror picture show theme........

Just get that picture in your head.

Slight change to advertised cars as Ben's Martego can't make it.
So we will have Richard Staker's Mk1 TC coupe
Martin Wallis's Mk3 LHD saloon
And Tony Millers Mk1 TC saloon.
If we have room then Matt Fowles has very kindly agreed to bring his Mk2 saloon to fill the stand.
It's going to have a very autumnal colour theme.........
