Where are people staying for this event?

I am north of Pickering and some are staying in Pickering also some others are in the middle of the Moors so a bit more north still.

So the MMOC is not all staying in one place??

Not as far as I know!
I think it would have to be a large place for everyone to stay. Plus I think they leave it up to the individual to make their own plans for lodging.
I must admit I had trouble booking a place a few weeks back for that weekend and close to where the events are going on.
But that my have been because not all places will have 20 month old child!

Saturday Road Run Route now on club website.

Cracking Route, lots of countrside views, tea/wee stops, steep hills etc.

To answer various questions on here and from various PMs, about the Road Run on the Saturday.

The full run is 57 miles, from Levisham, taking in Scarborough, Whitby, Goathland and back to Levisham - details on the club website. Brian & Trevor Ford have planned it and driven it three times and reckon it could take between 5 & 6 hours if you stop at both Scarborough and Whitby for fish & chips, cups of tea. all the photo opportunities etc.

To do the whole thing and get back at a reasonable time they plan to leave at 10.00am on the Saturday morning, it should be quite a challenging run with I believe some 1:5 hills and one 1:3 hill, lots of time on moorland roads, although the first section is the main road to Scarborough the scenery is pretty.

For those of you driving to Levisham from any distance on the day, the plan is for a second group probably lead by Andy Walsingham to leave Levisham at 12 midday and take a different route heading straight for Whitby where the plan says that they will meet with the early group for photo's teas, food etc. and then the joint convoy will head for Goathland and then back to Levisham, getting back between 3.00pm-4.00pm.

The plan is then for a Bar-B-Que at the Forestry Commission site close to Levisham Station from around 6.30, this has been set up by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for us - weather permitting. Still clarifying what the food and drink arrangements are and will report here.

If it is raining in the evening the plan is to decamp to Pickering and take over a pub - Tiny Thornber has a plan.

Is there many speed bumps on the road run?

According to Trevor and Brian - some of the roads are bumpy and suffered in the winter snow and frost.

A lot of the route is on good roads, but the bit to and from Levisham and Goathland are back roads.

Now David, thats why the Marina is meant to be X height off the ground!
You would hate the road outside my gaff. There is a speed bump every 50 metres and they are nasty and pretty high.
If I had a quid every time a car goes by and leaves a part behind or scraps its underside etc I would be rich by now
what does amaze me is when they do scrap they never stop to see what damage has occurred :shock:
Unless the damage is so bad they have to :|
The best one was a Mondeo and he hit the bump and the exhaust came off from the front and took the complete rear bumper off :roll:
I had to stop mowing the front grass to have a better look.

Did notice on Sunday that you seem to have an aversion to speed bumps

I take it your heading up on Friday?

We are planning on setting off at 8am for the 380 mile drive :shock:

I'm guessing our paths will cross around the Derby area so will keep an eye out for you. We will be the Marina, Rapier, Marina convoy :mrgreen:

Anyone else from this forum going? Be nice to put some names to faces. If anyone is in any doubt then come along-its a good couple of days-quite relaxed and friendly. Though not sure if its worth a THOUSAND ish miles in four days for! :shock: :roll:

Route looks good. I'm looking forward to it. Ten cars in convoy the other weekend was good but being out with so many other cars is fantastic.


And well done in advance to all that have helped organise it-especially looking forward to the BBQ. Though do Marina drivers normally eat quails eggs and champagne? I'm a greasy burger man myself!

I will keep my eyes open David.
I will be setting off around 9am and take most of Friday to get up there I expect.
Looking forward to it and should be OK, but still a bit nervous. Or may be just excited
