Net lingo 1174 looks interesting but I got bored looking any further down the list, it is more hassle prattling around working out this daft binary code rather than writing it out in full.
I think it is for persons with loads of time or no mates or both, the sort of folk who text their mate who sits next to them on the same sofa

Sold my modern so using the 1.8 estate every day for work now, 300 mile a week, starts every morning, doesn't go into limp mode and I get to work with a smile on my face.

Been thinking about selling my 309 once I have the coupe on the road. More fun and no tax to pay, although I think I'd miss the comfort and 5th gear on a longer journey!

You know how to fix both of those

, if you don't the coupe not being completely original.
My coupe will be a weekend driver - I'm sure I'll be able to cope with a bit of noise and discomfort.

I somehow don't think I will ever be able to afford a 5 speed box for a Marina, got too much other J reg shaped stuff to spend my money on
Plus that and me not wanting to admit I have grown rather attached to the 309 hence why I have spent the last few weeks welding it

I find all my marinas comfortable except on hot days when you burn yourself on the seats when they've been parked in the sun. The 1.8 is fine at the legal limit but I would never drive it as hard or fast as I did my 2.2 sri Vectra anyway, it certainly wouldn't go round corners as fast.

I think my estate is one of the comfiest cars I've driven, even with (or possibly because of) the tired seat base. The driving position is spot on, for me at least. Some of the moderns (Vauxhall Insignia springs to mind as particuarly awful) I've driven at work have been rubbish.
I did try using mine as a daily but it broke down too much

With it fettled mechanically and electrically I'd have no qualms with using it daily though.

Yep, low geared and a little underpowered but the ute has been a great daily driver for the 14 months I've had it.
Fix-its so far:
A set of points
One starter relay
Starter motor overhaul
Some rust repair
Not too bad for an old dunger...

Yeah I used JWC everyday and that was always reliable, never had a problem where it wouldn't drive home. The only two breakdowns were the gearbox and the relay for the electric fuel pump, but I was able to limp it home on both occasions. The noise was the main problem but then again I didn't have any carpets or sound deadening in it

Saying that the 309 isn't the most refined car, it uses the 1294cc Simca engine which dates from the early 60s, 3500rpm at 70mph.
Once the coupe is on the road (1.8) I will definitely be using it regularly for local driving, going to work etc but some longer trips may require use of the Peugeot (except for long distance shows of course!).
It wouldn't be so much of an issue if I knew I could find an enthusiast who would look after the 309 properly!
