What a shame. If that were a modern, with panel availability, I'm pretty sure it would be put back together. I've been a hater of the idea of driver-less cars, or even things like brake-assist on some Volvos, believing the technology will be flawed and it can never replace human instincts. Just lately though I've been so dismayed by general driving standards, with people driving at night with no lights, not indicating, tail-gating me then passing erratically and weaving in and out of lanes to make progress past everything in their way, that I think driver-less cars might be a good idea after all. People just don't know how to drive any more.

This one is in the US, to hankfully Skipis in the motor trade, so should get repaid.

I had a little bit of correspondence with Skip, way before I bought my HL, on the back of my interest in my original SDL when I was browsing the club website and found the link to his website. I've still got his email when I asked "Why Morris Marinas when there are so many powerful luxurious American cars?" In the posting about the damaged GT he's asking for another '73 GT, so does he want to re-shell it or replace it, I wonder?

What shame, hope it gets fixed.

Car don't look that bad seems to have missed boot floor rear quarter taken a good hit though. Be easier to fix with a rot free shell as looked a very nice car before

I'm not sure about the boot floor Dave. Looking at the photo on its maximum magnification on my computer it is possible the rear spring hangar is displaced and the rear leaf might be a bit more curved than it should be. At least the roof hasn't kinked over the B pillar but my stepfather's Mazda 626 was an insurance write off in the 1990s because of a crease in the C pillar and a closed-up door gap, after a rear end shunt, even though it drove exactly as it did pre-accident.

I've been in touch with Skip. He is looking for another '73 or earlier GT. The shell on the accident damaged one is warped and non-repairable. If he can find another Coupe to restore he will swap the bits over. He asked me to keep my eyes open - not sure if that was a joke or he would seriously consider an import!

That must have been a fair whack, looks to be a big crease under the side window. Must have twisted the whole shell - not something you can straighten with a Port-a-power (or chains and a tractor, as happened to a few Escort rally cars in the old days). If anyone in the US had access to the parts to fix it, Skip would be the one (sourced a few parts from Skip, good bloke). Sad to see it end this way. :-(

Awful news
For others on here... adding a high level brake lamp in my view is essential on a marina in modern conditions.
Younger drivers aren't used to just a couple of tiny low oldlevel brake lights.
