No good to us being so far away but still, pretty interesting. The red saloon with white roof is looking the part!

Doesn't sound a very Australian name, more like a "Wigan Special"

Unusual front bumper on the red one?

Yes, I noticed that too, the bumper does look a bit pointed. I like the dash trim in Australian cars, looks less fussy with more wood effect area than the UK versions.

Is there more wood effect area? Whereabouts? I'm not sure. That front bumper seems to have something fitted to the middle and doesn't quite follow the contours of the front panel.

Bold as Brass is a great colour, great name too.

I'd love to bring a car up from down under but it'd have to be one of the 6 cylinders.

The panel doesn't have the lines and inserts like the UK versions, the whole panel is one piece wood effect.
Looking at the bumper again, I think it's that piece in the middle that makes it look more pointed, not sure what it is though, piece of Holfords chrome beading maybe?

It reminds me of the insert on lowlight Morris Minors when they decided to widen the production cars but had a stock of pre production bumpers to use up! I'll get my brochures out and compare the UK dashboards with the photos of the Australian ones. I'm sure you are right, but now I need to compute the differences  I like Australian seats, they look very plump, but not so keen on the giant Leyland plughole of doom in the middle of the steering wheel.

Yeah, that steering wheel badge want's you know what you are driving  Ausi seats do look more robust and conformable.
Does anyone know why the Ausi cars had the dash vents deleted? Strange that for a car that came with them as standard they were deleted for a country with such extreme heat! On the cars that do have the vents the dash has a very slight difference in design around them.

Gareth I think that all Aussie Marinas, had opening front quarterlights

Don’t need both and cheaper to delete the vent units and all their piping.

Ah, of course. I forget, we never got quarterlights. Special order over here, wasn't it? ..except the Jubilee I think had them as standard.

Noo noo noo.....also Mk2 Special and HL and GT. Then the Mk3 went and got rid of the whole triangular bit of glass thing.

I've looked in the brochure now. Oh well...I think I actually prefer the shiny trim bits and the linear visual link up of the heater controls with the radio panel, and the ashtray fake fablon wood panel separate underneath. But then I did have a 1.8 Super Deluxe so perhaps its only natural that what I used to have looks right to me.
