Steering Lock Surprise

Hi,

pretty happy with my 74 Leyland Marina purchased recently (Australia).
However, after driving it 70km home I have found recently that the steering can lock while driving (turning right) although so far only at low maneuvering speeds. Needless to say I have stopped driving it on the road.

The ignition is the type with the little push button to release the key.

Finding it hard to source another steering lock/ignition in Australia so considered taking it apart to see if I can fix it or at least stop it from engaging at all. Alternatively breaking it.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I do have one of those NOS. But it’s in Norway...

Thanks EY,
always wanted to visit Norway!
I will pull it apart and see what the issue is and let you know.
Cheers

Update
After drilling out the shear bolts (not easy) and checking and reassembling the steering lock, I found I still had the issue of steering locking. Turns out a bolt in the flexible coupling on the steering shaft had worked loose and was jamming. Someone had used a nut with no spring washer or nylon nut. Will have to check what else has been "fixed". Still happy with the car.

Cheers
