What colour for my Coupe?

I am stripping the Coupe down at the moment in preparation for bodywork - 2 x wings, 2 x headlamp panels, front valence, plus some patching where I have found rust as part of the strip down.
I still can't decide whether to keep her Harvest Gold or change the colour. There's a little demon in my head saying Flame Red, Flame Red, Flame Red, Flame Red, Flame Red.
What do we think then? Original or not?

8) What colour is the interior Chris?...as this could limit your choice of exterior colour, i`m assuming it is navy, in which case you could get away with Glacier white, Aqua, Bronze yellow (nice 8) ) Blaze or your original Harvest Gold, Flame red was stopped in 1972 (L), Unless as it`s your car you can do what you like with it , comes into play!!

Hi Frank - yup the interior is Navy.
Hmmm didn't know about Flame until only 1972, mines a 73 M. What would be my legitimate colour options for a late Mk1?

Just a thought, with some of those options you would need to change the interior colour, also i have come across a couple more for you,....
15. Metropolitan police blue...(1971-73)..as per Jims Doris.
16. Aconite..........................(1973-74)..as Cliffs Mumford.
17.Citron.............................(1973-75)..Pauls favourite!
18.Black Tulip......................(1971-73)...mmm nice!
Of all the above including the first list only the following had Navy trim as
standard.... 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17..(.some of these as an option)

This post raises an interesting point. My TC is Glacier White which I'm intending to paint the car once the body has been restored. Some believe that a car should be original, down to the colour, but I'm more open minded. Personally I've always liked the rarer colours, Mirage looks good on a Marina and is a rare BL colour in general, as does Damask, Lagoon and Cosmos.
But out of the lot I'd choose Cosmos!

8) I`m with you on Cosmos (or Cosmic) Blue Marinast, what a fantastic colour for the early 70`s..would still look cool today on a modern car

Still can't decide on which colour to go for and am dropping the car down to Paul Mondey next Saturday.
In the meantime a question that I need help on and some piccies to gaze at.
Question - the plastic door mirror mount that goes between the door panel and the mirror arm - where can I get some and what is the correct colour, mine shattered when I tried to get them off. Sorry the pics a bit fuzzy.
the nearside headlamp panel is made up of coke cans stitched together and blown in in black - lovely.
Lastly - something of which I am proud - the original suppliers garage sticker in the rear window
Nearly there

mirror mounts

Should be able to get these from any mini specialist, they may need to be warmed up prior to fitting to accomodate the curve on the door.
P.S. what gearbox do you have fitted?
Cheers
Brian
P.P.S. Damask Red is the colour for me!

Be careful about using Mini ones! They are larger as the early mini had an extra spacer fitted between the mirror and door to get the mirror more at the correct angle! I have one of these and checked against my car and it is too big!!
So if any one has a source of these I would also be interested!
Cheers,
Paul.
