A quick question and any help, again is much appreciated. Can i remove the COMPLETE gearbox (bell housing included) from my 1700 o series without removing the engine? Haynes manual says no. (I am aware that the box WITHOUT the bell-housing is possible but i need to remove the complete gearbox)

It certainly is possible. Simply support the engine with a trolley jack and a wooden block and get plenty of height for the box to angle downwards ( axle stands or wheel ramps. Use another trolley jack or transmission stand to lower the box off once you have removed all the bolts, crossmember, slave cylinder, speedo cable and gearstick.
Not known Marina boxes to be split from the bell housing and removed from the engine separately.

Thanks Ben. Sorry I stupidly misread the Haynes. As you say, it can be done. Doh!

It can be done, I did it at the NEC resto show in March
Get the car as far off the floor as possible, if you can remove the exhaust
