Getting Marina ready for Summer

Post by Spindrift » Thu Feb 14, 2008 9:16 pm

Hello All.
After wrapping my Marina up for the winter looking over it have found a few problems that need fixing before its new MOT. Noticed all the oil out of the diff is in a pool underneath! and after starting 1st time the exhaust is blowing by the ring clamp by the manifold. So not too bad for 6 months sitting still :D ! Is it easy to fix a leak on the diff and any tips on getting the exhaust to stay put on that clamp, think the exhaust doesn't fit flush to the manifold which is gradually working loose (badly made front pipe I reckon). Dont really want to buy a new one as I think its a stainless one. Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.
Great site plenty to read just working my way through it all!

Thanks Finn

Hi Finn,

Welcome to the forum!!

For your exhaust leak I would first of all make sure that you have a metal bar that should be fitted between the front pipe and the gearbox bellhousing. This stops the exhaust from moving around and dislodging the exhaust seal.

As for the rear diff it sounds like your pinion seal has leaked. Common fault. Get yourself a manual and you can't go far wrong. You can do this with the diff still fitted to the car. There are companies that will recon your diff if you want to go down that route.
