Hi all, In view of the Minder Capri having caught fire recently, has anybody got any suggestions as to where to fit a suitable size extinguisher. 1kg seems the most popular. Dry powder or foam?

I carry one under the drivers seat. Sensible to have one that you can get to easily.
Many years ago ( about 25! ) I stopped at some traffic lights to see smoke coming out from under the bonnet. It was the first time out in a crash damaged car I’d bought and repaired.
The lights changed so I drove across the junction and pulled over. Upon opening the bonnet I found a small fire under the bonnet. I immediately pulled the pipes off the screen wash jets, leaned in through the window and operated the screen wash and put the fire out! Turned out to be a blocked/crushed breather.
The girl in the back was panicking as the child locks where on and she couldn’t get out! My girlfriend in the passenger seat seemed unfazed-she’s now my wife!

Balmy, (so many Davids), is yours attached to the floor or the tipping seat?, that’s the extinguisher, not the wife.

Foam and fitted within reach of the driver's seat (on the floor or cross member under the seat).
Some helpful advice here :-

It’s actually not attached to anything. It’s only hit the back of my ankles once a couple of weeks ago when someone pulled across me when I had right of way and I had to stop suddenly.

Mine is between the drivers door and side of the seat with a bracket screwed to the floor so if I crash it I don't get the extra bump on the head! I can reach it while in the car if required.
My dad went to a accident years ago when a worker rolled his van down a bank, he said he spent the time while the van was rolling dodging the sledge hammer bouncing round the inside of the van!

I think I’ll go for a 600gram foam beside the seat, and a larger one in the boot.
Thanks all
