One of my shackle pins is well past it's best. Removing one of the nuts took most of the thread with it. I suppose I could bodge it by refitting the nut to what thread is left and then welding it in place but I would prefer not to.
So - can you still get them? I wondered if a Morris Minor one would fit?
Or does anyone have a decent spare lying around they would care to part with for a few beer tokens?

To my knowledge new ones are NLA. Marina springs are 2” wide, Minor springs are 1.5” wide.

Someone on here will have some good used ones I expect - guys?

That's a coincidence- I was looking for them yesterday as I thought my car had had bolts fitted (turns out I'm an idiot).

As Chris said- Minor ones are too narrow and the other common one to crop up in searches, Land Rover, are too wide. If you have one to use as a template it would be an easy thing for a machine shop to make up, if you couldn't find a good used one.

I bought a set from Ang classic car parts that were advertised as being for the Marina but they were a good half inch too short. So i ordered some from a company called Westfield Fasteners, from memory 7/16 x 3 3/4inch grade 5 UNF hex head bolt (check dimensions just to make sure)

Ahh- is it the shackle pin through the chassis leg that you're after, or one of the spring eye bolts?

Oh, yes I was thinking he meant spring eye bolt, doh.

Sorry, just got in from work, brain still fuddled!

Thanks guys. I think getting one made may be more difficult than it might seem. I took a file to one yesterday to remove some marks and it skidded accross it. So they are made from some fairly tough stuff - certainly not ordinary mild steel. That would probably account for why the threads stripped so readily as harder also tends to mean more brittle.
If I am unable to find a good s/h one what I think I will do is used a standard 3/8 HT bolt and make a sleeve up, probably stainless, to increase the shank size to the required 1/2". I think that should work fine.

I have my rear springs polybushed this way but the threads are metric.

Just bumping this thread. I am about to refit my rear springs but am still looking for a replacement shackle pin. Does anyone out there have one with decent threads left on it?
