I believe the 1300cc and 1800cc clutch release bearings are different but are the clutch release arms also different.. I am having a problem, and i think now my release arm clip may be the problem is there a fix or a new arm needed

The clutch release bearings are all, the same, however the carrier for the clutch release bearing are different between the 1.3 and the 1.8/1.7.

Are you certain that the clutch lever arm clip is the problem?

The fork/clip looks like this, as you can see this ones a little bent but serviceable.

Thank you for taking the time to help, i have decided to remove the engine and box to have a better look when i have i will post a pic of my problem, the arm may be too long that why i ask is the fork arm different 1300 to the 1800

Chris did you see my video clip (youtube) showing my problem. Engine ready for out as soon as my mate brings his engine crane round

Just i thought my flywheel was very rusty and i had it skimmed would that be causing a problem

John, as long as the flywheel was skimmed within the tolerances specified, it should be no problem.

I did see your video, it does look a little strange. I’ll measure the one in my pics, so you can compare it to yours.

Please find pics, Can't see anything wrong with the clutch arm or spring, the release bearing and carrier seem fine however the length of the carrier measures 44mm ( strange ) but all working fine.
I do not like this after market slave cyl with the clip arrangement and wondering if this has been my problem, it is such a loose fit in the bell housing and maybe cocking over giving the impression there is something wrong

My measurements on the clutch release bearing carrier do not include the section inside the release bearing.

I think that you could be onto something about the wire retaining armature. Have you tried substituting the OE type of clutch slave?

My release carrier and bearing measured 52mm in total, i deducted 8 mm from where the bearing excludes so my carrier is 44mm, what length was the 1300cc.

The figures in my pictures are of the 1300 and 1800.

The longer one is the 1300.

Can you post a picture of you measuring the carrier, to make sure that we are comparing apples with apples.

The release bearing itself is about 3/4” (19.06mm) thick. It all looks OK to me.
