well today was the day to start all those little jobs that need doing in preperation for the new season of shows etc.
battery was flat but a quick jump off a good spare battery soon sorted that, then onto changing the engine mounts which was surprisingly easy with the front of the car up on ramps about 1 hour in total for both (courtesy of south wales props very speedy service),the engine must be 2-3 inches higher up now the old mounts were well past their best.
next was a service but i'd forgotten the dissy cap and rotor arm none of my local suppliers had any but good old halfords to the recue on the shelf and very reasonably priced. points were gapped at over 40 thou for some reason so set them correctly as they looked perfect some new plugs and plug leads after oil and filter changed and job done just needs a good wash and polish and the interior vacuuming and shampooing and off the Blackpool for a show over easter....and what's even better I got out of going shopping etc every cloud and all that
so what have you all got planned for your cars this season ??

all right stu, well like you started dusting off the cobwebs, on friday night we got the gemnerals front tyres blew up and started and the nit wouldn't start so suspect some sort of starter problem but will speak nice to my dad and get it sorted. It's going away tomorrow down to barry's to have the engine bay stripped bare and some new paint applied to bay and engine, then fit my new louvre and flaps and ill get you at blackpool.
( wonder how frank's getting on with my grille

yes thanks guys but I know what you mean about using them regularly mine has only been laid up since december so today I have had to free the o/s/f brake caliper off as it was stuck on solid, so I thought i'd have a look at all the brakes at the same time as the mot is due next month and I was very nicely surprised to see the previous owner had obviously had the car well looked after as all the shoes and pads looked new as well as the rear cylinders and also both rear drums and both front disks look almost new plus it's had new brake pipes in the not too distant past so no nasty surprises in fact I was struggling to find anything to replace so I just cleaned and greased everything and put it all back together adjusted the rear brakes the only problem i've got is the grease nipples on the front suspension are seized/blocked solid so I will tackle them next weekend
