Hi all

I've got a Marina Haynes Manual for all 1098 and 1275 models from 71 to 80.

It says in it that the marina uses 6 and a 1/2 pints of Castrol GTX Multigrade, but doesn't specify what particular grade, E.G 10W/40.

Apologies if this is a daft question, im still learning lol :-D

Same with the Axle and Gearbox Oil, as recommended by BL, Hypoy B90 doesn't seem to be made anymore...

Engine i use Morris oils 10w/40 mineral oil. Manual gearbox i used a GL4 75w/90 in the axle used some 90w/140 SLX limited slip oil because thats what I had thing gearbox and axle were ether Castrol or Euro car parts Triple X brand i buy both regularly for work. After changing the gearbox oil andm y trip to France the second gear has stopped crunching, must have cleaned up a polished bulkring

I use Millers Classic Pistoneeze 20w-50 engine oil mainly because it's good quality and importantly it's a good old family owned Yorkshire company!
Comma EP80w-90 GL4 in the gearbox and diff. Wilko sells the Comma gear oil.

Shame they've switched to the tins with the plastic handle though 👎

That looks like a nice tin tbh, and I'm more than happy to support a Yorkshire business rather than a Multinational like FUCHS.

Cool, they do a full range of classic oils so you could also get your gear oil from the Millers range too.

I'll set up an account on their website then.

Opie Oils sell the Pistoneeze 20-50 for a good price on eBay with free 2 day postage.
Or if you're in the Chesterfield area Steve Mckie sells it at his MG restoration garage, just off the bypass. It's a bit more expensive from there though.

Yes, Steve is a good guy and I like to support him, even though he's a little more expensive than you might find online. Of course being an MG specialist he knows the A and B series engines inside out too.

Just decent quality mineral 20/50.
Next change will include slik50 just as an experiment.
Engine was rebuilt with new pistons roughly 5000m ago and seems to be using less oil than at first. I've some plans to reinstate the original TC filter set up with further refurbishment on the cards just to see how it goes as it has always run a bit rich and hot.
