Why would anyone strip RTO 809N to a bare shell? It was a good car.
Was wanting good money when up for sale.
there is GBW 124N?

I own RTO 809N
The car has been totally resprayed properly in the correct colour.
Engine and transmission have been totally overhauled.
Running, driving and looking superb.

PS. would anybody have a brown glovebox lid that they could sell me?
Many thanks.

Glad to hear that she’s back together, any pics you can post. Try Martin Wallis on here, he may have a brown Mk1 glove-box lid.

I thought it was Rinegold? I know another Rinegold car was painted in I think a Ford colour which was close but thought RTO was the correct colour!
I knew there was an issue with the rear wing just behind the drivers door which appeared after it was restored. Maybe it has suffered in storage and not being driven.
Good to hear it's all back together as it is a fantastic car.

i am a former bl main dealer paint sprayer i thought the colour was wrong when the car came up for sale .there were 2 variants of rinegold met and i was lucky to still have the colour swatches in my shed when i colour shot the paint it was the variant slightly milkier shade on the car .the micro blisters on the car were that bad that the
car had to be re painted also i was lucky to obtain several pics of the car when it was new and the original colour compared to the shade it was when i bought it looked so different. any way it has now been painted inside and out and looks very presentable also when the car was listed it wasnt running then further on in the auction it was shown running briefly well what a joke when it was delivered i put a battery on it to start it there was petrol leaking out of the carbs it was spluttering on 3 cylinders the clutch was bust and so on . So thats why i stripped the car the clutch fork was snapped so all was replaced .after sitting on my drive for about a week i noticed the vinyl roof had gone almost white the car looked so good on the web site so a new vinyl had to be fitted aswell I think i have done it just about right now and hope it is a credit to its former owner who restored it to such a high standard my only real problem i have with it is i am disabled and usually only drive automatic so its a bit of a learning curve going back to manual ha ha

Sounds like you have done a fab job and would love to see it at some point.
I do remember seeing micro blistering in the pictures when it was up for sale which may not have been there when I last saw it, but you can't tell how bad or how much the paint had blistered in the pictures. I guess the petrol pipes had rotted with ethanol. my original new pipes only lasted 4 years and were shot. so I got branded Goodyear pipes with the SAE marked on them.
So glad its in good hands and I am sure you will get used to a manual again, a bit more hard work than a modern
