'75 TC Coupe Purchase.

Morning all!
Those that play Facebook might have seen I bought the TC coupe that had been languishing in the Marketplace ads for a good few months.
I have yet to get the car back to Oxfordshire ( but plans are afoot on that score ), so I have kept myself busy mulling over the project, considering what bits I'll need etc.
After a chat with another June '75 registered TC owner, it seems my car sat around for a while before being registered around mid June, carrying a much earlier Vin number the for mentioned car.
I also read in these hollowed pages that the wide stainless screen trims did not feature on the last of the MK1 cars. Does anybody know if they were deleted and around what time in production? Mine has them and will keep them, just interested to know.

Being in storage since the early '90s the TC is in reasonable shape. Most of the usual Marina trouble spots remain in perfect shape. There are a couple of hidden horrors under the vinyl roof and at least one sill is hanging out of it. Spring hangers, one is a tad untidy the other looking fine. The whole of the underside is well coated in a stick thick wax oil type stuff, as is the under bonnet area. The car has had a repaint back in the day and that has blistered quite extensively.
Once I have the car home in its new garage ( after a house move ) I plan a full resto, so will strip the car to a shell, refurbing everything as I go.
The car benefits from a telescopic conversion up front, but one I've not seen before. Shock top mount is a standard rear top shock mount bolted through the inner wing, the shock itself is a rear type with the pin lower fixing. The mount on the lower arm is really very substantial, the pin mount of the shock not visible at all.
Anybody know of this conversion at all?

The front shock top mounting bracket looks a lot like a rear shock top mounting brackets, but with a strengthening mounting plate - not ST, but ST ish.

From the chassis number your car would have been built around September 1974, so it sat for a good while before being registered. Glad it has finally found a home. It had been for sale for at least a decade! The stainless windscreen trim disappeared around chassis number 470,000 (around January 1975).

Thanks for your input guys,
Sept'74 build. Sat somewhere for 9 months!
Josh, I am assuming you have viewed the car to have the VIN number to hand?

It is amazing how long some of them sat for. Strange given how they struggled to keep up with demand sometimes. I guess it came down to whether the cars they had were the colour/spec you wanted!
I look after the register of cars for the Club.

Really did think about going for this one but with the GT resto starting soon, I wasn’t sure I’d ever get 2 done.

Nice colour though - this is my 78 GT getting used tonight as the Merc has had another hissy fit!
