Here is something interesting to talk about!
I was reading today about Sir Alec Issigonis when he designed the Morris Minor, and in particular that fact that he designed the engine bay to take a front wheel drive design.
This would have meant a new front suspension as well!
So, the question is , what would the Marina of turn out like if Sir Alec had got his way?

It would have been exactly the same as it was RWD - but perhaps with better suspension like say its half sister the Dolomite RWD.

If you read up about the Marina on http://www.aronline.co.uk it was always destined to be a RWD plain jane reps car, designed to meet the Escort/Cortina in the marketplace. BL already had Minis/Allegros/1800s/Princesses etc. in the fleet, so another FWD wouldn't have made a lot of sense.

However the Marina fleet replacement was canned and then its replacement was FWD - Maestro/Montego

Thankyou for replying. I doubt if Triumph would have allowed anymore use of their parts bin, Harry Webster would have blown his top. Im more of the view that the Marina would have had Morris Oxford/Austin Cambridge front suspension, or it would have been FWD.
