i don't know if this has had a topic before , but from the price of them i can guess it has.

I know these pannels are hard to get now - does any one know who re maufactured them before?

i just spoke to hadrian car panels as it has been bugging me that they are so unavailable and i got the reply that the machine/press that makes them cost £20000 per wing -

and due to the pair on ebay at the moment for starting prics of £160 and p&p @ £50 for non original ones - so working from that £95 quid each -
so if there was an order for 300 of each front wing @ £95 they would get £57000 is it worth it and do you guys think there is a market for them ?

or if any one knows which company did them before, and we can see if they still have the machinary for them

Well - BL had two sets of presses, one of which went to China, when BL sold the design to the Chinese. I tried following up on this a couple of years ago with the Chinese Embassey, looking to import Chinese wings if available, or the old presses, but I got nowhere on both counts.

I thought it was Hadrian that had the other set of presses but could be wrong about that.

As far as 300 pairs of wings is concerned, that's one pair of new wings for every two cars officially left registered, I guess that you would perhaps turn them over in say 10 years. I think that the only reason that pattern wings are being offered (starting price) at £80 a pop is that they are scarce in the first place. If there were lots about they would have to reduce the price to get them all sold for a reasonably quick turnover on their investment - I guess between say £35 - £50 each, then the profit margin is much less. It's one of the reasons that the MMOC commissioned front wing noses and A posts, so that owners weren't reliant on EBay specials.

If you think that Marina wings are dear, I was talking to a 105E Anglia owner the other day, pattern wings are £250 each, if you can find them!

yeah i was looking at the noses as they are now priced at £110 and was thinking ouch, thats why i thought i would place this on here to see if there was an interest - i mean as you know it is always a good idea to have spare of these items - with them being that scarce - i know i was lucky getting my original pair with the car all for £200 -

i mean even if we go for one side now and then when there sold go for the other side - take it in stages -

Hello Andrew, the factory that bought the Marina line and dies broke already in the early start of this century. It was established in Chengdu, a city in the South-West. I will go to Chengdu next April, I am trying to visit the other factory that bought an English line: Yema, they bought the Maestro-Montego line from a third Chinese company, named Etsong. I will keep my eyes open if I see anything which has to do with Marina: cars, partshops etc. But don't count too much on it: production was nearly nihil. i also emailed the guy selling the wings on ebay and he told me tha name on the wings , and looking in to that but looks like the company had a lot of problems with copy right - on some volvo car parts and things so not looking promising there ,, company name VENG (uk) ltd

the second set of presses were owned by a company in denmark whether they still have them i don't know.. Hadrian used to buy the panels from them but i cant remember the name of the company. Ill speak to my mate who is a rep for hadrian and see if he can get it for me.

On my pattern wing was a sticker from maxicar ltd (italian I think)
I also have a couple of pattern sills from saltofix.

I bought a 'complete suite' of Veng panels a few years back and I'm glad I did now. Wings, full sills, rear arch panels, front lower panel.. Not for sale, just in storage for a rainy day..

There is of course the non genuine fibreglass wing option, these are £81 each from Smith and Deakin

Not 100% genuine but it should get the ball rolling.

I live in Denmark. If you can find the name and address of the company with the presses i can contact them -. maybe they will sell the presses to the club???
I have one spare front wing that was new & unused (bought of ebay about 5 years ago) sitting in my Mum´s shed in Harrow NW London, that I wouldnt mind selling if somebody really needed it and made a fair offer

Well Andrew, I for one commend you on your efforts, I to believe that these things are only going to get even harder to get hold of. it sounds like a reasonable idea albeit a lot of money to buy in bulk, but I for one would stick my name down for 2 sets at that proposed price, I'm fairly sure that there are others out in Marina land who'd do the same.One things for certain the wings on our cars now are only going to rot away in time, no matter how well we look after them, I for one am in this Marina thing for the long term, and as such would jump at the chance of a panel supplier.

Like me, I am sure that a number of you watched the pattern wings on EBay. They went for £261 the pair, plus postage. It kinda puts other wings and repair panels in perspective doesn't it?

These aren't bad, as long as you reinforce the top of the inner wing properly and replicate the gutter channel. I used B&Q 19mm steel angle seam welded on, then attached the wings with screws and Sikaflex 'borrowed' from a car panel makers... still on and OK!
