hello there, i the new owner of an ital 1.3, just a few quick questions, what alloy wheels will fit straight on, i know about the tr7 alloys fitting but is there any others??? if not what fits with spacers and wheres the cheapest place for spacers? could i fit any different carbs?? and is there any cheap s/s exhausts anywhere? cheers for the help people.

The PCD on the Marina is the same as a lot of other Triumphs so Dolly Sprint alloys and IIRC GT6 steels and alloys will fit. I used TR7 5.5"x13" steels on mine with a few runs of weld added to allow the fitment of hubcaps which gives it a sort of Lotus Cortina look. I noticed recently that Rimmers are selling new TR7 steels for £85 for a set of 5. MGF/MGTF and 25/45/ZR/ZS rims have the same PCD but will require big spacers which is where the problems start because although there are a few spacers available, none that I've seen are of a hubcentric design which would keep the alloys centred on the hub rather than relying on just the studs to locate the wheel. This can cause big problems with out of balance running and wheel bearing loadings so its just a case of being careful. Companies like superlite and compomotive can make you a set of say 7x13 minilite replicas or midland wheels do revolution 4-spoke replicas. Kilroy on here has a number of cars with 7x13 Superlites which look great.

Why do you want to change the carb? Is it causing problems? The Itals had an HIF44 carb and twin outlet exhaust manifold which was an enormous improvement over the earlier HS4 carbs fitted to Marinas. If its running properly, its a stonking little engine which can rev like blazes if its well enough worn... The A & A+ engines are straightforward to tune and have lightness on their side as opposed to the B and O series units.Its even possible (with a fair bit of money) to put a K1100 motorbike 16 valve head on them..

Montego/Maestro/MGF/MGTF alloys have the right PCD but a 35mm offset (ZR/ZS/25/45 are 100mm). Grayston spacers are 38mm thick and the offset required for a normal Marina wheel is 13mm, so, 13+38-35=16mm offset for these wheels, which isn't far off what is standard. I run Monty alloys on these with concentric alloy hub locators and as long as your suspension/steering rack is OK, you should be too.

As far as Stainless exhausts go what do you mean by cheap . I can supply stainless exhausts for most cars but they all come at a price :roll: . Marina 1.3 work out at about £160- £170. All are made to suit and take around 10 days once ordered. If this is what you are looking for I can get a price sorted for your Ital .
