Hiya All,
just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my rather unusual Marina!
This is my first post of hopefully many. The car is fully road legal and 1300cc of rip snorting awsomeness :) The paint is nowhere near as good as it looks in the pics but it\s great fun to drive.
Hopefully I'm going to be picking up a 1.8 estate next week too to keep her company (and as some sensible transport!).
Best,
Chris

That front bumper was stolen from a Marlin!
Looks fun though!

Hi Velocette!, welcome aboard, like the convertible mate, must admit they look better without the roll over bar like mine has, i take it you know this car was a `home made job`?, although it looks to have been done very well, i have seen it advertised before and hoped someone like yourself would take it on as it looked like she could do with a little "tlc".
If i remember right, she has no roof as such, so you will obviously be looking forward to a long hot summer next year! , looks like great fun though, well done 8) 8)

Hiya Diff, thanks for the comments, it was built by a chap in 1990 who used to work at Cowley during the 70's. He also built a roof chopped Ital that is also fairly bonkers. It pretty well done structurally, loads of stiffening and too be honest feels very composed on the road, goes quite well too, guess all that weight saving really helps. Gonna tackle the paint job over the winter, thinking white with blue side bands or maybe back to it's original Mettallic Green.
Anyone one got a picture of the rear of a coupe' the same age as mine? I want to see the badges and how the are arranged. The two I got off ebay are three peg, but the car has only two drillings each side of the boot lid.
Cheers!
Chris

Don't think so as I can't find any traces of white paint where I have started rubbing down and picking out the filler!

I Know this car. It was based around the Abingdon area, where I was brought up. It was often seen around the Boundry House Pub, with a sign advertising a Hot Rod club that used to meet there. I also remember the roof chop Ital (Matt Black?). Nice job if I remember. I think the cabrio was Matt Black for a while too.

I was driving a Black MK2 coupe at the time and luckily had parked it in Oxford, one particular day whilst sorting my Mums Nova. My Dad was a Paramedic and new all the local plod. Whilst I was returning the Nova and picking up my coupe, the old bill arrived at home, told my old Man I that I had been seen racing through the town in the Black Coupe that day, and he was to stop me from partaking in this activity in future. It was only when I pointed out I had been under the Nova all day, we realised the roof chop Ital was probably the offender. Either that or my Mum had been dragging the coupe about (would have been fair - I did it with the nova!!)

Glad to see its still about. I would say this must have been around since the early 90's, so been a cabrio longer than it was a coupe.

Hi Paul - no they are the ST rims. Gone with the ST now hence the slots that are one there now.
They did look good though.

My wife went to a house to pick something up yesterday and when turning around in the road took a photo of this car.

I was amazed that its so close to me! and I didn't know-goes to show you never know what's around.

I took the wife to work today and on the way knocked on the door but no answer. So velocette hows progress? I notice it hasn't been taxed for a while.

Need a hand or even a chat? Would love to have a proper look at her sometime. :D

Oh, and if your neighbours tell you of a suspicious character hanging around driving a Rover SD1-it was me.

She looks utterly gorgeous, I think even the Idiots Three of Top Gear would be wetting themselves until they saw the grill.
