Wheel Guidance

Aside from interest in Marinas and Itals - one day I'll find that immaculate estate! - I'm also an enthusiast of all things Triumph. I'm aware that the 'small' Triumph range shares its PCD - 3.75", 95.25mm - with the Marina saloons, but wondered if I might ask for some advice? Am I right in thinking that the Marina and Ital saloons have a 4.5" rim, listed as a 4.5'C'? The wheelcentres being similar to that utilised on the Dolomite, does this mean that Marina wheels have a stronger offset? Also, do all Marina wheels have the lugs to retain a chrome centre wheeltrim?

I'm looking for an alternative set of wheels for my newly acquired Dolomite 1300 but want something subtle. I had hoped that using Marina wheels combined with the original Dolomite 'trims might give the appearance of a wider wheel, without having to resort to overly wide tyres. Any guidance gratefully received and should anyone have any wide steel wheels for sale I'd love to hear from you!

Many thanks, sorry this thread isn't entirely Marina-related!

Marina wheels have an offset of +13mm, Dolly Sprint alloys are +35mm. TR7 wheels are very close to a direct fit. Putting Marina wheels on a Dolomite will just push the actual rim outwards and it will probably tramline like a b*st*rd and kick back badly. Montego/Maestro wheels have an OK offset, as have MGF/TF and possibly Rover Metros.

Does the Dolly have a fwd offset (more offset toward the centrline of the car)? A hangover from the fwd Triumph 1300?

Does that mean a Dolly wheel could foul the suspension on a Marina? I presume not, as several members have them on their Marinas.
:)

What is the widest wheel that can fit, assuming you spec the offset to just clear the suspension? Can't recall whether Kilroy used the Dolly offset with his 7" alloys. iirc he had them made to his measurements.
