Hi
had a go at cleaning and re-painting some decent leaf springs and fitted superflex spring bushes,wondered if anybody had also tried superflex bushes and do they give better results?

I haven't used superflex but have used other plastic bushes(Urethane) in the springs and shackles. Much firmer and tighter rear end is what you get. They even raised the rear of the car about half an inch. Just showed how shot the rubber was. At the time I had adjustable Koni shocks and I needed to adjust them up to control the rear of the car.

Trust the Aussie to focus on the porn ads.
I did not use urathane bushes in the rear as I was told it made things too harsh,I just replaced them with new Leyland ones.
I wasn't disappointed with the result.

A bit harsh is probably the way i'd put it also. I don't know if the standard shocks would be able to control rear but i suppose it would depend on how strong the springs are as well.

My observations are thus;

Superflex (UK) were so amazingly prompt that I had my parts here in NZ 4 days after ordering.
Thats big.
The polyurethane bushes are quite supple, and the car that I have put all poly bushes in is the most compliant suspension I own..!
Top marks there.
The bushes supplied were purple - I believe that the density of the bushes is related to the colour.
In future I will use nothing else.

Did you change anything else in the suspension at the same time? If not, then sounds like a great improvement!

Does the car handle better as well? How worn were the bushes that were replaced?

Besides fitting Poly eyebolt bushes, radius rod bushes, rear spring shackle bushes - I also lowered the car by 1" with blocks at the rear, and adjusted torsion bars at the front.
Reconditioned front shocks were also fitted.
However - I have done most of this to a number of cars before - its just that this time it all feels far more supple and without any knocks or rattles.
The original radius rod bushes and shackle bushes looked very much worse for wear - the eyebolt bushes looked ok - but I feel that this is where most of the improvement comes from.
Handling is probably improved - its just not a car that lends itself to testing the limits...
