Black will make it stand out less when Mr MOT man looks at it.....

I think silver or black, or naked/lacquered ally for the tailshaft housing/fifth gear box and black for the iron bits.
I agree on MOT testers, each year I tell mine what I have changed/upgraded and he checks them over, it a safety check for £40 - better than not knowing.
Trev got any pics yet, love to see how its going.

agree with whats been said.....black, silver or polished/lacquered ally........anything else just looks like one of those museum cutaway cars!
im keen to do either a 5spd or overdrive conversion on my coupe but wondered why its been done with the ford type 9 as opposed to the lt77 tr7/sherpa box??
is it down to dimensions??
same question stands with the overdrive conversion.....would not an mgb setup be easier than a dolly box?
please forgive any naivety on my part.....having driven my marina 200miles home after purchase.....i really want some extra gearage!

I think there are a few LT77 converted cars around but the box is a fair bit bigger and needs the tunnel modding quite a bit to fit. The type9 is a relatively easy fit by comparison as you can see on Chis' site (MarinaCoupe). Just click on the links in his sig. The overdrive boxes have the same metalwork issues although if you're handy with the tinsnips and welder, it's not THAT big an issue.

We chose the Type 9 for all the reasons stated, plus they are generally easier to get hold of, they weigh about 30Kg less than an LT77 and you can mount it onto the back of your existing Marina/Ital bellhousing ratherthan finding a Rover SD1 2000 or LDV bellhousing and then changing the engine backplate or redrilling it.
Having driven LT77s in Rovers etc. I always found the gearchange a bit clunky compared to the Type 9.
